Could we all be barking up the wrong tree here and it is a problem with win7/safari and their settings?

Have you downloaded the latest drivers from the hp web site?

That was my original thought Dave, gonna try another cartridge first and see what happens.

When I had problems with my hp printer, their tech help was very good, but once a set of test prints were done direct from the printer, they said it would not be a printer problem, but software/drivers.

Any result with a new cartridge, John?

An update.

Still printing everything fine but the internet stuff still has the shadow.

Now for the interesting stuff, I sent him of the PC World, regards other stuff, and whilst there, to see if there was any issues with 64bit.

Basically the guy said there is two different internet explorers installed and he should be using the 32bit. anyway he's going home to try it on 32bit.

Problem solved. Maybe.

I think the moral of the story is DON'T buy a Dell Inspiron.

The problem is not Dell.
All 64bit operating systems come with both a 32bit and a 64bit version of Internet Explorer, but the Adobe Flash only comes in 32bit versions, both for IE and Firefox.

Either use the 32bit IEv8 as the default browser or get him to download Firefox, as that only comes in a 32bit version and get the Fash Addon for that.

Which is the same problem I've been having...

Save the page from the internet...then print from saved document...works for me.

Other issues are Dave, and even so I would expect printer issue with 64bit to be highlighted, 99.99999% of the population wouldn't even know what we're on about.

He's using Safari browser.

If you print to pdf using something like dopdf http://www.dopdf.com/ do you get the blurring when you view the pdf? If you don't get the blurring when you print to pdf it would indicate the blurring is being caused by the printer driver, or cartridge mis-alignment etc. If the pdf looks fine in Adobe Reader, you could try printing the pdf.

Maybe a bit off-topic, but I have been toying with the idea of upgrading my computer system and because my last two towers have cost £50 and £200 repectively, I though I might splash out on a "new" one rather than glue bits of old ones together. Consequently I was looking at Dell, but found out that they were experiencing a load of re-boot faults primarily (it seemed) because the Dell Inspiron 560´s were all kitted out with Windows 7, and as I remember from microsoft launched Vista, there were loads of issues for the first year until a whole load of upgrades were released to fix the problems. Is this pretty much the case with Dell/Windows 7?

Prints documents, word, etc just fine, the same with the scanner, test pages etc.

Only time there's a problem is when he tries to print anything straight of the web. The Radstock snooker league tables for example.

Try printing the web page to pdf and see if the problem's still there. If it isn't then print the pdf.

The computer is the 1545 the same as Daves, and he's on the second one because the first didn't work very well, come to that neither does the replacement.

I was trying to sort out printer problems, and I'm quite certain it's a 64bit issue, we shall know shortly. other issue with the computer he can get PC World to sort out under warranty.

Will try that Rich if the 32bit doesn't do the job.
