Re: Some of our decoration work
You have done some very smart work there
I love the pics of the tiles with the laser levels, when I bought my laser they used to have to super impose a line on the photo's to make it look lke a laser as they could never photograph them properly. The two pictures you took could be used in their manuals

Re: Some of our decoration work
Sorry CR, I really do not like that bathroom. The workmanship is great but the design makes it look like a Victorian mental institution. However, I do like the initial set of photos and the design really works well for that property.

It's not everybody's cup of tea, this bathroom always seems to get the marmite reaction.
It's the black grout that does it!! Her issue was the grout discolouring with use, I did advise that I could seal the grout and that the grout is a quality one that resists mould in the first place but I think she's had problems before, I did even tell her that black grout can go the other way and discolour by showing limescale but she was determined to have black. I personally would have gone for a light to mid grey but it was one battle I lost.

Excellent workmanship! The bathroom is a work of art and I actually like the black grout (and hate marmite )
You've obviously got a great reputation to be getting the top end jobs and I'm looking forward to seeing more from you and your crew in the future.

If you take a car in the garage for new tyres, and the fitter notices the brake pipe is leaking badly.
Do you think he/she should mention it.

Re: Some of our decoration work
Why would I do that
As a safety officer I would tell him to put them on, and if the breach was serious enough I would report it to the office.
The steps in the pic are suitable for light DIY use, and not Trade use, should anyone have an accident the boss/directors are responsible and would get prosecuted.
And God forbid, if anyone got killed it would be culpable homicide.
And in any case the OP is leaving him/herself wide open in the compensation society.

why do i not find that hard to believe
i,d agree if it was an extension ladder but a set of steps ....
the guy was about 3mm off the ground ....
if any of my guys fell from that height and had the nerve to even say " ouch " they,d be out the door
ah well suppose we,ll have to disagree ....
just glad your not watching me

Re: Some of our decoration work
Workers have been killed falling off the first step.
The steps are on the site to be used, not just as paint pot holders, or look impressive. That makes the bosses guilty of not supplying the correct equipment.
On the other hand the working are stupid to use them.

Scruff,
I don't know what I have done to offend you, I really don't
Please tell me that.. truthfully now.... hand on heart... that you think I put a mans life at risk because I sent him 2 rungs up a step ladder, not more than 2 foot off the ground, surrounded by carpet???
I'd really like you to tell me how somebody has died falling off the first rung of a ladder, was there a 100ft drop behind the ladder? was there an acid bath behind it? of was it the worst twisted ankle known to mankind where he just couldn't take it any more he had to end it?

Re: Some of our decoration work
Has anyone said you have.
I merely pointed out they were unsuitable steps.
agpm06 seems to want to make a big deal out of it, so I responded accordingly, they are not fit for purpose, end of argument as far as I'm concerned.
But to answer your latest question, you can quite easily break your neck if you fall badly or strike something on the way down, even off the first step.

Re: Some of our decoration work
He wasn't the one who made an issue out of it, it was you.
ok can you tell me the difference between class 1,2 and 3 steps?
and when you do, can you tell me how that relates to carrying light weight materials (such as lining paper) up a ladder.
Also can you tell me how falling off the first rung off a class 1 pair of steps is any different than falling off a class 3?
As a retired tradesman I'm surprised at you, I really am, if you were subjected to some of the crazy rules applied today you wouldn't have got even a third of the work done. I'm not saying that all health and safety is over the top, as I don't think it is, but the only bits I'm thankful for is an education into some of the damage the materials we use can do to us, but standing 2 foot off the floor on a step ladder isn't one of them, if you are that accident prone you shouldn't be anywhere near a building site let alone a step ladder

Re: Some of our decoration work
I think you're missing the point completely, and twisting it around because you're too damn tight to buy the approved equipment.
Cheap light weight steps can buckle and break, Class1 steps are heavy duty for industrial use.
And don't give me the old sh*t about not having an accident, if you're that stupid to think it can't happen, then good luck to you, and suffer the consequences when it does.
