My little nana (great gran) Had a beautiful house near to barton. Can't remember if it was Spindlewood or that was name of house. Was down a little private gravelled road. Its a ruddy housing estate now. That beautiful house got knocked down to make way for it.

Thank you once again. I am beginning to get a picture. I think the corners have been siliconed. As you can see from the next pic. I think the plasterboard did not go down to the shower tray far enough (it may have been cut too short). I am hoping (as the other tiles are fairly solid) I can fill the cavitiy with a cement style grout and fix the loose tile back in. However, 1) will the mould continue to grow? 2) as you can see from the other pic, I scrapped out the grout where there were cracks (it is here that I think water was getting through to cause the mould) - Can I just grout over the top / into the places where I have scrapped.
My wife says that the grout will let water through because it is porous, and this may allow the mould damp to begin again. is she correct?
The state of the shower has been like this (as per the pics) for 3 months and so has had plenty of time to dry!

Grout is water resistant not waterproof (unless it's an expoxy grout) tiny amounts can be absorbed through the grout into the substrate but if you have cracked grout it will pour in.

Use a flexible cement based addy and flexible grout

Normal grout is fine for shower use. We rip out shower enclosures that are 15 years old and plasterboard is immaculate as the day it went up. It is the workmanship and maintenance or leak that are normally at fault when things like this happen.

You need to make sure the shower tray is properly supported and not got excessive movement. Take off tiles until you get to good plasterbpard. Cut out damaged board, clean mould and let it dry out. re-board and tile.
