thanks for reply, its definately not the sockets ,as I used it at a friends house yesterday with the same fault then took it home to find the same problem,I was hopeing that myself

You are getting confused Big-All.
Look at the link that you first posted-

That is where the Brushes and brush caps are listed, not the second link you posted to the newer model

looks like the motor now ,not a cheap fix wow that hurts ,any reccomends for repair or replacement ?

very unlikly to be the full motor will be the rotor or stator[coil windings or armature]279/284

the dewalt 742/743 series saws use an induced field (induction) motor, the manual someone has posted is for a brush motor chopsaw.
heres what the professonals would check in the order they would check it.
1) plug, is it wred correctly and any loose parts
2) cable, check continuity from end to end down each core flexing lead whilst doing so.
3) switch, check that you have continuty thru it and that it is breaking the circuit (not made any easier by the fitment of a relay type)
4) start capacitor, is it charging? BE CAREFUL thats a large capacitor and can give you a fair old jolt
5) does the motor spin freely?
6) is there a peak start surge and even run current supplyed to motor?
if still you havnt fixed it you need to bring it to me or someone else in the repair trade.
