The water in the Bath area can be quite hard.

If the secondary tubes get blocked with lime scale the only solution is to treat them in situ with acid ( unless you replace the entire heat exchanger! ). No simple plate to change/clean!

I recommend you fit a good magnetic scale reduce in the the cold water inlet.

Whilst I probably will change it now, the plan was to get it in ready for any emergency because it's so damn cold.

Plan B, was because the gas has gone up 300% since this time last year.

Plan C was the less I give the vultures in gov.con the happy I am.

The Government are not involved in your choice of new boiler.

Its your wallet which pays the bill and its you who will see all the savings!

If you're in a hurry get a BG crew round, conventional to combi is about 13 hours labour inc flush

And don't fit an inline scale inhibitor but the hydroflow doobries seem to work (a bit)

I'd love to see BG try and flush a 36 year old system with the original water init

Think it may need a wire brush on a flexible rod.

If I tried hard I could doitall myself in less time that that.

They would probably give you a powercleanse - 24 minutes for that

Or full flush up to ten rads - 2 hours 20 minutes

I may borrow my BG mates flue gas gadget for an hour while he's drinking the coffee.

Well he's not an installer then they don't have them

He's a healer, duster and drop an aspirin in the header tank.

And don't forget sticking his probe up some old dears flue!

well that is interesting John as I would direct you to section 9.1.4 on page 28 of the manufacturers instructions for a intergas HRE boiler.

9.1.4 Combustion
The combustion for this appliance has been checked, adjusted and preset at the
factory for operation on the gas type defined on the appliance data plate. No
measurement of the combustion is necessary. Do not adjust the air/gas ratio valve.

now it does tell you what the reading should be if you so wish to check I would check anyway just in case

I ain't got it yet Mehran to read 9-1-4 combustion, but you can be sure I will at some time.
