i'm the same mate. try and help alot of people in the plastering section and sometimes wonder why i bother. I came home from work and a card had been pushed through the door from a local repair man, turned out he lived 100 yards away haha. came round about 10 minutes after i rang him, had a look at it here, took it home to his workshop and had it back and sorted all within a couple of hours.

Fortunately we don't have the problem in the plumbing/heating, most posters show their appreciation and give us feed back on the progress.

ill try and explain but when it comes to the workings of computers/software etc etc im lost but here goes
something along the lines of her laptop wasnt b and g compatible it was either only b or only g. mine was compatible and so was the router so he changed the settings to suit.

g should be backwards compatible with b. N is also backwards compatible with g and b. a on the other hand is a different frequency, but thats not to say you can't get a card that supports a,b,g and n - but not normally at the same time.
Routers are either b, g or n or a - but you can also get dual band now too that can operate on dual frequencies at the same time.

i had a similar problem with one of our employees laptop in thier home, had to go and change the router settings to allow the old pos dells we use to work on his wireless.
