Right - the video driver sounds very old!! be 4 years old in 4 days - time to let him have a pension and get a fresh one!!

Directx looks like it is installed ok - nice one :thumbright:

I have a screen grabber app that I can copy bits of screen to clipboard - lots about, I use one called "Screen Grab Pro" - does what I need and is free :-)

Back to video ... you need a new driver! #1 - ATI is now owned by AMD (just in case when you go get one, you think you may be in wrong place)

This is ATI home page http://ati.amd.com/products/index.html

By going to "Support & Drivers" and choosing your setup - Windows XP (I assume) and ATI Radeon 9600 series, I ended up here

http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catal ... radeonx-xp

Click on the link above and you will be able to download a new driver released just this month, so as fresh as you will ever want to get!!

Of the two options they give, I personally wouldchose #1 as I like to fiddle about. If you want as straightforward an install, #2 may be best?
Also bookmark this ATI page as you may want to return to it

Think I may update my own ATI drivers - they are middle aged (2 years old)

Have fun!
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?"
She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

click on the link http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catal ... radeonx-xp

Does that open up a very reddish type of web window?

If not - you got problems beyond a video driver

Just seen what you mean - there is a typo that I never noticed ::b

The second Option 1 should say Option 2 :cussing: do that one :thumbright:

If you follow the same process as before to check the driver versin what do you get?

sometime you need to disable spyware apps or Anti virus apps before you install drivers- may be worth doing that

Start >>> Control Panel >>> Windows Firewall (for firewall)

was it AVG ? if you turned that off, it would stil be on the task bar but in B&W instead of colour
