Although i must say that if you keep the pipes tight to the back of the unit you should be fine (as in my case) plus obviously forward planning helps but in my case we were picking up the existing waste and there was absolutely no way we could alter it . Only to the extent that we were going to be able to house it in the service void (that didn't exist).
As with the hot and cold feeds we had buried those and just had the tails sticking out of the wall about 450mm up from the floor level, so we continued these down to the floor and ran underneath the units.
If you think nobody cares, try missing a couple of payments..
