hi again simon
u made mo chuckle at ur reply!!!!!
u said ur laptop was an inspire as with an i, but i asked if it was an aspire with an a lol
the e management is an acer software which is inbuilt into their systems, u can usually find it by a big green E on the keyboard, this is the acer management button.
Do u let ur laptop go into hibernate, if u do then this could be the problme for it getting hot as due to this e management, the empowerism to be exact then it does not tell the fan to come on wen it comes out of hibernation hence ur laptop gets extremely hot,
it was just a thought as my laptop was an aspire and it had this problem,
hope i have explained it better now lol, have a google and u'll see many report the same problem

Simon it's an Acer..
The best way to cool those B@rs@rds down is to throw them in a bucket of iced water....
Given my experience..

If you're brave enough to take it apart, the fan usually sits in a plastic housing that connects to the aluminium fins which expel the hot air. Often a layer of dust/fluff/crud builds up where they connect. If you lift out the plastic housing you can remove the blockage.
Or take it to a repair person. £30 should cover it.

you can try what others have said to try ie blow through the vents,
underneath and to the side of the laptop.
also you can try your hoover but make sure you use a brush tool. give it a few goes it should clear.
You also need to make sure the laptop is not used on your lap. Always have laptop on a flat surface.
if you really need to sit in your armchair or lay on the bed while using it, use something flat to place it on.
I make my grandkids use my chopping boards from my kitchen.
using a laptop on your lap or on the bed or on the arm of the chair
is the worst thing yuo can do. hp and acer are really the worst for overheating.
they should never of ben called laptops as that is the worst place to use a laptop.
when friends and neighbours come to me with pcs dust inside is the worst and most
reasons for them packing in.
PS you can google, "how to clean my acer (type and model) notebook or laptop" you will be able
to follow a video on how to do this, posted on e-bay also helps in instructions.

If you remove the "keyboard only" as shown in video link below,
you may be able to clean out the dust from the fan
without stripping it down completely.
you should see the fan on the top left hand corner.
have done an acer similar fan position but not this one.

Still working up the courage to pull it apart!
Wally, always used on a flat service, if I had it on me lap, I would have a pair of seriously scorched nuts!

hmm, wondered if I was going to be near you, but I'm not.
Would have offered to drop in and give you a hand splitting it open (the laptop, before anyone suggests anything else
).....if I do end up that direction, will check if you've done it!

SSM that youtube, from someone who has removed the back panel and changed a fan, is scary; a small #1 Phillips (pencil length) and small flat s.driver to pry edges that have a small lip and the bottom panel surrounding the fan grill pops off.
