Always praying to the gods of the PSU that I never have one go, it's one of those things you should never skimp on.
It'd be like buying a £500 chainsaw and then operating it Clanger naked to save on safety gear.
Oddly, I've got a cheapy power supply in my desktop now (the I7) with multiple hdds and other stuff......UHM's post made me think, I'd be gutted if it popped and took anything out.

I know it's squeals sometimes under heavy load (like caps on a board.....that REALLY annoying high pitch), but just lived with it. Hate building PCs, so just put it off.

I don't mind building pc's, I just wish I didn't have sausage fingers.
Makes some things infinitely fiddly when it's all in the case.

I've got a beautiful Lian-Li A03 Micro-ATX case, installed a full watercooling loop in it with my meaty sausages... many battle wounds were had!!

Looks like a nice case, but don't you struggle for room??

My hand has been forced......case transplant coming up soon - machine won't get to POST anymore without the additional three drives removed :(

It's on borrowed time, which also means I've GOT to go to that ummm, interesting case.

The case is fully cramped apart from airflow routes, managed to keep them clear :)

I'll have to find some pictures soon.. got a Fractal Design XL in mind for my new build (hopefully March, funds depending!!)

Surprised you could get aircooling in there!

Funny you should say about the define XL thats the case I was looking at for my upcoming build, it's between that and the Lian-li A76x.
Gotta be shot of my current monster and a few other bits before I start work though.

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.

me 2 at binning / selling stuff.

folks have got all my AMD rigs from when they beat intel clock for clock. (thunderbird, 1800+, 3200...)

newest ones moved with me,
got enough bits to make another rig up and the other just needs a power supply and a case....

current rig is a antec P183 SE (shiny, mirrored sides and door...)

Managed to build the other half a 2600K barebones with 8GB ram for £210 - less than the CPU costs alone.

That was the A03 with it's CPU only waterloop.. never did get one with the updated hardware & gpu waterblock.

That was my Coolermaster ATCS 840, watercooled CPU, GPU & Mobo.

I've got half a watercooling kit which I'll eventually finish off and chuck into my new Fractal R4, as it supports 240 rads by default :)

Cheers :thumbleft:
