I find it's often those that can't string a sentence together that know the rules all too well! Their methods extend to ripping people off so they don't have to go to work.

I was told about a paypal/eBay scam the other day relating to chargebacks that has come about recently. The brazen attitude to people ripping people off is mind blowing - blatantly operating a con using their REAL names and addresses for high value equipment, yet nothing can be done easily about it other than spotting the patterns and stopping the goods ever arriving.

They should spot them and post an exploding dye pack that smells like sh*t to warn people when they are coming.

I had one a while ago where I sold an item worth about £70, got paid via paypal & posted it off. About a week later got a email from ebay stating that the buyer had not received item and I was to refund. I couldn't chase up with royal mail as they said I had to wait 21 days. Within 24hrs I got this email from ebay. ::b
eBay Customer Support has reviewed the case and made a final decision.

We issued a full refund of GBP 68.88 on Feb 24, 2011 to the buyer. As described in the eBay Buyer Protection program, the refund includes the purchase price, plus original shipping. This amount will be deducted from your PayPal account or charged to your preferred reimbursement payment method.

Decision:
This case has been decided in the buyer's favor.

Comments:
We didn't receive valid proof of shipment or delivery from you. Proof of shipment or delivery is required in order to be protected from losing a case and to confirm that the buyer has received the item.
Luckily I had the item insured and got a refund from the Royal Mail, otherwise I would have been totally stuffed. I'm sure the guy received it really but claimed he hadn't because he didn't have to sign for it.

A genuine seller is a seller that has good feedback for selling, there are a few firms on there that I use quite a lot such as folkestonefixings, buyaparcel, bobforeman0, plus a few others. You can often get cheaper items from these sellers than you can anywhere else.

Sometimes you see newish ebay members starting to sell expensive items, if you check their feedback all of their positives will be from sellers, not buyers. There is a chance that these people are going to take your money and not deliver the goods ;-)

people can actually buy good feedback but suspect only genuine people would do this as its tied up money
another way is sell hundreds off small items to get feedback

I recently bought some computer bits for my desktop
Scored a AMD HD 6770 GFX card for £32, all it needed was a replacement cooler (which conveniently I had on the card it was replacing) RRP £75-£85+, seller was great....courier not so much...got there in the end though.
Also bought 8GB of DDR2 Ram for £40 used, works fine, new price £35 for 4GB
and got a better CPU Q6600 Core 2 Quad for £41 (previous CPU was a Pentium D 805....only thing it was good for was warming the room...slow as treacle otherwise)

So for about £110 notes I'm now able to play games again, do some proper design work without waiting an age for the image to render, listen to music while doing accounts and other stuff without it stuttering.

Then again I bought a jade flute for about £15 a few years back as a trinket from China, jade part was fine (might be legit have bought stuff cheap in Asia before) but the trim was terrible...like thick foil....shame as I would have willingly paid double if the trim was decent quality.

Also bought some clothes dirt cheap direct from supplier in china, brand free but decent quality and about the same as I would pay in primark for something actually nice looking and well made.
Sizing can be a bit funny sometimes, but most of the companies are keen to maintain their image and many have offered to send a different size for free and told me to keep the original.

Electrical stuff I never buy from Ebay, particularly not laptop or phone chargers, nor power cords (unless they are a legit uk company or an actual UK seller) lots of the chingrish sellers are selling items that are lethal (single insulated cables, undersized cores, insulation that falls off, stuff that bursts into flames, plugs without fuses etc etc) then again Amazon are as bad or worse for dodgy computer cables.

Just ordered a Display Port to VGA adaptor......first "Question" I get emailed from the seller is a begging email for 5*'s on all categories.

Second email, about 5 days after it's meant to be dispatched I get this:
Dear buyer
Sorry to tell you that we must refund you for the item you bought, because we double checked the quality, it is not as good as our previous product, we do not want to make you disappointed when you receive it, but still wish you may satisfied with our solution to arrange full refund to you. We are trying to solve this issue with our supplier now, to avoid any future buyer complaint, we also have ended this item on eBay.
If you received the delivery message , it is sent by our systerm automatically when your payment received by us , please ignore it .
We apologize for the inconvenience again , please confirm whether this is your paypal email for refund Billy_Goat@SomeFarmLand.com? We will process it for you immediately when we get your reply .
Thank you for your understanding and patience .
If you have any questions please feel free to let us know.
Have a nice day : )
Best regards

You reckon?

I'm thinking they have had too much interest and priced it wrong (looking around, they were the cheapest). It's been spotted, so it's been withdrawn for "quality" issues with the supplier.

Smells like a produce of cows used for gardening.

Lets face it.....if a company ships things in and lists them BEFORE checking, why would they check it after selling? :bs:

I agree with Billy.

B&Poo are notorious for miss-selling special offers.

Advertise something dirt cheap, they may have one lucky punter the rest get a sorry sold out but we have an alternative ::b

My very first purchase from Flea Bay was a cambelt kit for a car I once owned. Local garage wanted £92 + vat for it. I had a look on EBay and found a motor spares seller in Wales selling the same item for £32 + £5 P&P.
Second purchase was my present car (still going strong too) Last year I bid for a Yamaha keyboard and got the winning bid in. I arranged to pay cash when I picked it up from the buyer and travelled down to Dunstable to collect it myself.

It gets better.

I reckon these are one of those companies that have TONS of stuff on sale, but don't actually have half of it. The cheap stuff they say they don't have and refund the cash - then BEG for positive feedback.

Had a mail telling me the refund is underway and to give them good feedback!!! Replied telling them that it will be negative and a complaint to eBay if they don't sort the refund in a timely manner.

Our goal is to make sure you are a happy buyer and pleasant shopping with us. We understand the concerns and frustrations you might have, and will do our best to resolve any issues.
If your conclusion for this transaction is neutral , please kindly pay attention that now ebay Neutral feedback = 1 or 2 DSR Score = Negative feedback , and any neutral or negative feedback may affect the safety of our account and turn out to be suspended by Ebay .

PS : if you were reminded by Ebay to pay for the item again after the refund, please ignore the notice , as it's an error of Ebay system.
suspended account for negative feedback?

Makes me want to give them negative for the constant begging emails. Mailing me direct too from paypal address. Told them to contact me through eBay only in the future.

I buy a lot from ebay and sell a bit too. In the 600 odd transactions, I think I have had 3 issues and these were all resolved by ebay/paypal.

I have also saved a lot on various items but the main reason I use it is because of how easy it is. Filters work well for searching, you can see postage cost straight away and you know they have stock.

It also keeps me from having to go near the shops and I cant stand shopping.

Hmm, I seem to get trouble quite frequently.

Spoke to a mate and she said it's not right - if they don't have the item, they should cancel the listing. She's right....how can I leave feedback for something that I've never had? I'm not going to lie - as other people will get sucked in too.

Going to wait a day or two for my refund, then report the seller.....

We have been selling on ebay for a number of years now and yes, in the begining there were a few problems with chancers claiming item not received but since changing our delivery to 1st class signed for and international signed for as our only method of shipping we have only had one parcel go missing in the last two years and it did genuinely go astray as it showed as still in Royal Mail's system 5 weeks after dispatch. This I feel is not too bad considering its well over 5,000 parcels sent since we changed.
We never prompt anybody to leave any kind of feedback, that is entirely up to them.
Genuine sellers! There are loads of them, but sadly a lot of scammers too
I always check a sellers return policy, if its straight forward and fair its usualy a good indicator of their integrity
Oh and another thing, we are registered with HMRC, are your dodgy dealers??? I dont think so
Sorry for the rant but ebay sellers get a bad rep because of the few and despite the many good honest sellers.....Rant over.. :thumbright:
