Scary bikes full stop BG :-)

I think most bikes are scary. I was told "get a 600, learn how to ride!". Doesn't make sense, as there isn't more than a second in it upto 100 on most.

Tried to drag race a mate on his R6 once from a standing start.....was fun, but both stupidly quick machines. The thing I hate about 600's is the stupid constant gear changing. On the 1 you just point and pull!

Sensible doesn't come into it...Sneeze and flick that wrist and you're at light speed :-)

Did you used to do any of the rallies BG or Santa pod race days?

started off on an air cooled single cylinder 125,

then got a hornet 250 and learned how to ride,
when i got a 600 a few years later, most people i knew couldn't keep up as i'd learnt how to keep corner speed.

got the fireblade when the 600 had a duff alarm, i'd been commuting without a car for years.

think it was 10 years on bikes before i passed my car test  only been driving it a 4 years but lazyness in the car has got to me and the spare tyre is growing ::b

doubt i'll get back to knee down and quick status, point and squirt will have to do for now

Never been to track days, which is quite sad. Mate in Germany is trying to get me to do week rides, but time is always against me. About 8 of them start at Munich and go through the alps, stopping each night for food, drink and bed then off. When they get to Italy, some of them peel off and the others come back.

The pictures are amazing and it sounds like awesome fun :( If I was going to do anything, it would be that (on a rented Harley - I'd never walk again if I done 6 days on my bike).

Aside from that, hardly riding anymore.....just about everyone I know who had bikes got kids and sold up. The remaining people had bad accidents and quit. Bit boring when it's just you.

Can't use it for work since I changed jobs either as I'm always at different places and need to carry stuff. The joys of being sensible.

Should sell it really, but I can't part with it.....when I do find time to go out, my smile passes my ears.

I'm off to the Alps in September...Can't wait!

That sounds like a brilliant experience BG..Kick off with Nuromberg and then head of on a ride through the Alps! Does it get better :-)

If you're going to do it and you hire a Harley, you'll have to grow a huge beard and keep ya head bald  Post the pics..

I passed my CBT with the intention of being sensible and learning how to potter round on a 125. Got that and then didn't do anything for a while and decided I would get bored too quick, being of the larger boned frame it would be too slow.

Done direct access in 3 days and got my unrestricted licence and didn't do anything. Came home from work and my missis had brought me a FZR600 I was looking at in a window one night :thumbright:

Smashed it up in a massive accident and didn't ride for 6 months due to physio, etc.

Then went out and brought an R1 when I could walk properly again :thumbright:

I just arse around in evenings these days, when the weathers alright.....find it awesome for clearing the mind.

What are you off there for? Going to enjoy a spot of Sausage with Ze Germans?

As for the beard, I'm not sure I can manage that! It gets to about a week and I want to scratch my own face off - it's like bloody barbed wire!!!

I'll send you some more mankini pictures instead, if you like?

It is essentially a desktop PC by purpose with Windows 8, but yes, it does run a couple of virtualised servers when I am working (the alternative is a couple of rack mount servers which scream like banshee's).
