As for firewall, off the top of my fat head I don't think it does outbound filtering by default.

It's a headache at the best of times, especailly when it's training (same with any firewall). Do you want XXXX to have access? x400 times. You click no to the wrong thing - no internet = support headache for whoever sold the machine.

Windows updates are all...up to date..Windows 7, browser that I had a problem on was IE, though I also use chrome..

I use an outdated version of IE because I prefer the functionality..but everything else is up to date..including AVG, MBam...

Interestingly I can't access my e-mail account, (Yahoo) seems the password has changed.. :? :?

Could this be a hangover from the recent attack Wine O suffered when his Yahoo account was hacked?

Unrelated, I'd guess.......did you see the other Yahoo thread???

Their security at the moment is just a joke. There are well known exploits for taking over peoples accounts - good luck getting it sorted. My brother after no less than 30 emails to them has finally told them to shove it up their arse. I should publish them.....it's entertaining from an outsider perspective!!!!

The unable to access e-mail could be..the other stuff no way...as soon as I logged onto JO site threat after threat, mostly blocked...but the one I posted earlier got thru ???

Ahhhhhrggggggggggg...just realised...when I had the problem with Yahoo...I changed the password....then had a message from yahoo saying "We've noticed unusual activity on your account and have suspended it until you change your password" ...or something like that...

So I changed my password to some thing completely un-memorable...

and then e-mailed it to myself... ::b ::b ::b ::b ::b ::b ::b ::b ::b ::b ::b ::b ::b

so that I wouldn't have to remember it.. :error:

I'm sure you've answered it a million times BG but what would you use for AV and the free or paid versions?

I only ever use Microsoft Security Essentials these days. Free for home users and businsses upto 10 seats.

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/wind ... s-download

I come across ESET in Germany quite a lot, so I gave a pack to a mate to try (it was a business thing. As they take credit card payments, they need to retain scan logs for X amount of years). It's a good bit of software to be honest, but I don't think I'd pay for it.

I use MSE as it's updated through Windows Update. It doesn't nag you all the time and it's very slim on resources (not that I care...but my parents computers, not so new). It just works.

It's a bit like underwear though....everyone has their own favorite!

Did they reply?

If not, you should go round the park collecting dog eggs, bake them into a pie recipe concocted by JO himself (obviously you'll have to use ANOTHER recipe and substitute filling with said eggs) and take a load of pictures. Send it to JO and post the recipe.

Tell them it's your thought about their site.

Then make me a nice pie and send it me. Might be an idea to make MY pie first. If you make it second, then just give the bowl a quick swirl out first, ta.

Not yet, But they are all off for the BH weekend...(The admin at the website)

I couldn't possibly send them a pie as suggested...I'd have to send it raw.. :salute:
