Yes. You'd have thought that by now they'd have managed to genetically modify the apples in such a way that they'd grow with a bar code in the skin. Much less wasteful!someone-else wrote: I went to the self service check out, but could not find a "fruit / apple" icon, the assistant came over and said "The fruit has its own bar code sticker" sure enough, sitting on the opposite side of the "granny smith" stick on label was a bar code label, now that's got to be a waste, a sticker on every apple.
