Re: Tradepoint!!
I suspect you are right I what you say colour republic, the item was their own brand petrol trimmers, which I reluctantly bought because the expand-it trimmer I wanted was out of stock and I only used the tradepoint side as I will whenever possible avoid self service checkouts. It was obviously not a tradesman tool and the condition it was returned in showed this. Anyway lesson learned, tradepoint = next to no discount and no comeback. Worth bearing in mind especially if anyone using a tradepoint card and isn't actually a tradesman just a keen DIYer, I suspect there are hundreds if not thousands, buying tools for using round the house to beware of this. I've learned from it and could maybe do with brushing up on consumer law, it's a minefield out there! :grumpy face:

Re: Tradepoint!!
I too have had enough of TradePoint.
saving meaningless amounts of 2 or 3 pence on orders from a few quid to £500 or so is frankly pathetic.
there timber prices in particular are ridiculous! I only order from the local merchants now
eg: 16m of pencilround 4" at TP - £25 at the time, or thereabouts
local: £15 delivered and all good timber with no twist/bows in
18mm p5 t&g - TP around £8-£9 a sheet, I needed 30 sheets so around £280
local - £230 delivered.
I have bought a few kitchens for rentals from there and that has been the cheapest way I have found
but, hardly great quality.
so I have come not to bother using them unless its a desperate rush to have a specific item there and then.
as for screwfix, ill use them WHEN they have stocks of anything in the local branch
you wouldn't believe the amount of times very common size screws have been OOS for days
eff 'em all

'Rap' doesn't appear in the word 'Cr*p' merely by coincidence..

I have not shoped from Screwfix since Feb 2013 and am not in a rush to shop there.guitardedleon wrote:I too have had enough of TradePoint.

When Toolstation was opening opposite my local SF branch in Croydon (just off Purley Way), I thought they were mad
![Embarassed ](./images/smilies/icon_redface.gif)
But there are numerous times when you go to the Plumbfix counter and are told item is not in stock but can be ordered for collection next day.
Guess what, I want it now to carry on with a job, not 2moro? You walk across to Toolstation, and they have it on the shelves.
OK, it may cost 5pence more, but so what? If I want something, I want it. Don't tell me to wait till 2moro

As for B&Q, gone are the good old days when you received a nice check every quarter from trade point. I hardly shop there now, except for a few gardening stuff.
Men will always be kids. Even after they have grown up, they keep trying to go back where they originally came from!
