Don't forget to remove the battery and PSU before starting, once both disconnected, you might also press the power button for a flick of life before working.

Good luck.....must be all those wood shavings!

BG!!!! I went with your first suggestion of giving it a good ole blow into the fan thingy, in fact I went a bit crazy and knocked myself out (jk )...Within a second the fan had gone to a nice normal hum opposed to the full on hyper cooling mode :huray: Plus it's not blue screened once since!!!!

Thought I'd give it a few days before I posted my update just to see...Fingers crossed all good...If that was all it was, I'm amazed..

So the moral of the story folks...If your hard drive thingy is over heating, give it a blow at least once a year  I believe you can even pay someone-else to do it for you which might make life easier. Just sit back and relax :thumbleft:

Lappy's often have issues with overheating, just because they are called laptops. People see the name and think they can use them on their laps, but they should really be used on a hard flat surface. One of my daughters has been through more lappy's than I've had computers, simply by continually using them on her lap/arm of the chair/settee. Tried telling her they need proper ventilation, but kids , ehh, they dunna listen.

Kids ey........ Try PARENTS!!!

My mum broke THREE, yes THREE laptops that I had given her. THREE!!!!! She actually managed to MELT the bottom of one of them so the plastics were deformed. One was killed by a drink and the third was wrecked when she dropped it and 'caught' it by the power lead, ripping it clean out the board.

Laptop 1 - 800 quid
Laptop 2 - 1400 quid
Laptop 3 - 600

She's now on number 4 - which is her last chance really, I've got no more to give her.

She swore bling it wasn't her fault. I told her countless times about using it in bed, on sheets, the sofa, etc. Didn't listen, swore she didn't do it (which we ALL knew she did). Even my dad shouted at her for doing it, but she snapped 'it was only a minute'. :angryfire:

She went to my brother and told her that they were all crap laptops (they were not, they were high end models!!!!!) and that she was going to buy one of her own and give me mine back.

She went to the shops, spoke to someone and told them what she had and that she wanted something better..............she walked out the shop when they told her the price and has looked after this one ever since!!!
