No typo.........apply with brush or roller leave for 12 hours and wipe off excess. I am sure it will be the solvent based one because it stinks, is great in an unventilated bathroom lol and you can't wash out kit under water.

Not that there should be any excess, anyway.

Just used it for Marble as the client supplied it. Normally use Lithofin which is wipe off after 10 minutes from memory.

The link the OP suppled was to a water based sealer.

What sealer did you use that said leave 12 hours? You sure it wasn't a wax?

Fila, they got it from Topps. Left it with them, I won't use it.

I read it 6 times because I couldn't believe it had to be left for 12 hours.

Can't find it on the Fila site but they do have another one for marble which you have to leave for 24 hours and use a professional buffer to remove any excess.

prefer Lithofin products, personally.

Just had a look at his link. Different product. The 5hite they supplied was for polished marble and solvent based

Welcome back to another installment in this exciting thread.. nearly on a par with watching paint dry :-)

Had to get a number for FILA from Topps, they appear to be an Italian company with a disty in a shed in the UK so have left them a message but in the meantime the advice from Topps is to

1 apply more sealer to 'reactivate' what's there
2 apply grout remover striaght away and ta-dah the whole lot will come off so I can do the job again
3 reseal again and it will be fine now I've used grout remover, there is NO NEED to buff as I go along

Points 1 and 3 contradicts advice on this forum so that removes any temptation to give it a go against my instinct anyway.

I will let you know what I hear back from FINA but thought I'd share anyway just to keep the interest going

Finally got hold of Fila, the advice is put down a solution of 1 part stain remover to 5 parts water and wipe off after 5 minutes. It should remove the excess and shld not need to apply another coat.

The guy sounded like he couldn't wait to get off the phone and it took 4 calls to get a call back. Got the impression he is the distributor there is no technical dept in the UK. Coupled with the advice here to strip the whole lot off its just muddied the waters to be honest.

Any thoughts on what Fila have said?

Thanks

Does anyone have any thoughts on the advice from Fila or used this approach before to take off/re-do sealer?

Just looking for some help to make my mind up really.

Thanks!

No mate.

One of the commercial tilers we use has over 30 years on the tools and in management. he would know.............but I haven't got a clue when I will see him.

All you can do is try a dedicated tiling forum and ask there.

Thinking about it, I do have some acid in the van which I had to use to clean up some tiles the other month before sealing. I am sure it is by Lithofin. Will have a look tomorrow and get back to you. It may be suitable.

This is the stuff that might work.

You would need to try a small test area first though, to be on the safe side.

I'd be very careful using acid based cleaners on stone. Most aren't suitable. Some tilers still do it but then they know the downfalls and are experianced in using it in risky situations
