Just curious, what do those oak square columns sit on? Whats the reason they are not sitting directly on the wall slabs?

Chain down pipe would look good.
Thats a good idea. I had never seen chain downpipe before, but then about 3 weeks ago it was on a house on Grand Designs on TV.

At first I wasn't sure about the internal blocks against the stone but now the way they blend in is one of my fave features of the whole project
Not much overlap on the tiles though, quite enough for a feature porch though
I'm gonna be nosey, whereabouts are you based? Always handy to know where decent trades are!

Yes the rafter length meant the tiles are on the absolute minimum headlap stated by the manufacturer (75mm). It was one of those awkward ones where squeezing in five courses of tiles with huge headlaps would have looked worse and also wouldn't have matched the house roof, (which also has 75mm headlap).
I'm near Daventry, Northants, not far from you by the looks of it.

Nice work Chappy, love the postbox it sets the whole job off. Blends in nicely & probably cost a few bob too, well worth the finished product though.
