I have finally figured out how to post a photo.

Here is a photo of a single Mullion - as you can see the reveal is made of wood. That's how the finished result after insulation needs to look to keep the character of the house. I had recently skimmed the walls ready to re-decorate but now it looks like it will be covered with insulation.

In the main rooms the there are four mullions in a row which do take up quite a lot of the wall.

I bought a bungalow with solid walls, in the lounge there were 3 outside walls and 3 very large rads so I had some indication that this could be a very cold room I lined the walls with 30mm type insulation bonded to 12.5 plasterboard this was installed by a local company using mechanical fixings only. I have since fixed more myself using dot and dab combined with 4 fixings per board as an extra, I just took the board to the edge of the window opening used plasterboard beading on the corner and skimmed round into the reveal where rads were hung I fixed timber vertical strip for the rad brackets to fix to and the board was cut round these, where heating pipes were I just cut the insulation out to suit the pipe runs as these were surface run. The room is very much warmer with just 2 smaller rads (the lounge is 6.1m x 4m x 2.7m high). I consider it was very worthwhile doing for comfort and cheaper to heat.
