To 'give in' means these parasites are making money out of other peoples distress and suffering. How on earth can you possibly sanction that?

Your wife needs your attention now. Ignore the parasites and anything they send. Forget about it. Be there for the missus and give her our regards for a speedy recovery.

What we appear to have here is a company that is deliberately allowing people to park in the full knowledge that there are insufficient places and also knowing the car users have either no other choice or an appointment they MUST keep or seriously ill friends/relatives in the hospital.

They are feeding off people AND YOU WANT THEM TO GET AWAY WITH IT?????

It's £40 if you don't pay up within 7 days and more and more if you have the temerity to contest a fine that's not enforceable anyway..... this is legalised extortion and the more people that pay up, the more that bend over and 'take it', the more they're going to think they can get away with it.

By exploiting people's ignorance, fear or distress is despicable. To throw in the towel and let them is pathetic.

If it's not council or police issued,forget about it. I've scrunched a few up and turfed them out the window to no grief whatsoever. I've never even had a letter demanding payment.

She was hospitalized and I got her out this evening.
I see it as legalized extortion. I wonder that they are allowed to operate as they do, particularly in hospital car parks. I think a letter to the NHS is called for.
I have taken a different approach. I sent an email to their 'appeals' procedure explaining the circumstances. I received an automated response saying that application of the fine is now pending the appeals decision, which could take up to 35 days. The reduced fine of 20 quid will be applicable for 14 days after the decision of the appeal assuming it rejects my request.
Let's see if they have a heart, or are callous b******s. My money is on the latter.
So I don't have to make a decision just yet, though paying 20 quid for it to go away is tempting.

For the sake of argument, you should be able to ignore it. There are lots of websites with canned letters you can fire back - as said, it shouldn't be enforceable.

BUT....for those saying it's unjust, where does it end with regards to parking anywhere and doing what you feel is alright? It usually means one person parks on the grass (in a rush, ran out of time, can't find a space, emergency, etc) and then everyone else thinks it's alright.

Then someone runs out of grass and goes on the pavement and ends up making people walk on the road. What if those spaces were clearly marked around the hospital to avoid ambulances, deliveries and stuff from getting in?

What if it's a really serious emergency, can they park in ambulance bays??

That's kinda what I was getting at BG. No one wants to pay a fine and parking is generally crap at hospitals but I think I would've expected a fine under the circumstances

Aye, I agree with what you wrote. Just my own poorly written input...

When I go, I usually end up sitting in the waiting room for ages - I tend to REALLY over egg the time needed to park and get in. So many rooms, staff, etc and so few spaces.

My last three visits cost over 10 quid a throw in parking

As I said BG, Park and ride free park plus £2.50 bus for as long as you like.

No-brainer in my view.

This explains it all without having to go into detail myself.

We live in a society where the ''Powers that be'' have connived to inflict pain on those who are in desperate need of help?
In Croydon, Mayday University Hospital charges more per hour for parking than the roads surrounding the hospital?
As if that is not bad enough, the hospital parking is 24 hours while surrounding roads are from 9-5. With some of the roads, it is only a 2 minute or less walk into the hospital.
So I avoid parking in the hospital parking bays regardless. Personally, I would not have even given the ticket a second thought. Infact, on two ocassions, I have been sat in the car when the ticket was issued. I just came out, took it off my screen, squashed it and binned it right infront of the operative. ''That will now cost you more'', he said. I just ignored him. Never heard from them.

The same applies to TV watching. The hospital charge a Premium for you to watch TV? WTF. Shoud they not be providing the service for free?
