No it was the 120,I used it for a few days in the autumn fin.A couple of guys on site had festool everything,and I mean everything! The Hoover atatchment is a fine piece of kit I'll admit.

first time i saw a festool at work was a kitchen fitter on a job we did a couple of years back. then in may 2013 ish i picked up my extractor. then got a ts55 then the planer then the little cordless drill.

in that time ive seen a canny few blokes with festool gear on jobs ive been at. seems to be becoming more popular.

like i said before i tried the ks120 out briefly on the festool roadshow. class mitre saw imo like

Stevie you really can't compare a 717xp with a 120 Kapex. I don't spend money on tools just for the sake of it and it took me a long time before I bought the Kapex 120 as I would always convince myself it just wasn't worth the extra money. Believe me it is worth the extra!

Almost everything has been thought about and improved over every other saw i've either owned or used. The extra money spent has already been paid back in just the speed of adjusting different setting on the saw, the clamp is a work of genius and that alone saves me time every day in use.

I could go on about all the different features but to be honest if you've got 15 mins then check out this review as it goes in to detail about all the features. Some of them may seem insignificant at first but after a while you realise how much you miss them when they aren't there (recently I split my tools between 2 jobs, had my Festool on one and my Makita on another, the makita which cost me around £500 at the time feels a massive downgrade when I started using it again)



I have one little complaint about the kapex and that relates to a grub screw that stops you taking the right hand rail completely off when you quick release it. In the end I removed the grub screw. That really is my only complaint!

But what can the festool do that the 717xps cannot? Where is the extra 400 quid going. And don't say it's more accurate,it's not.
The festool also has quite a few plastic components.

Like you guys say,if I used one for a few weeks I'd probably be converted but there is plenty life left in the dewalt!! I looked at the cutting capacity etc,all the same. The dewalt has a more powerful motor but the kapex does have oodles of fine adjustment features.

But it's not so much what it can do that others can't, it's how it does it.

My makita can do everything the kapex does, (compounds both ways, trench cuts, slide lock etc etc) but the kapex does it faster, much faster. Going from one mode to the next takes seconds.

Ok... you can place it right up against a wall which reduces your working foot print. Building sites are always busy with trades fighting for space. I think Bosch are the only other make that has ranges that go right up against the wall?

Clamping down your work piece is a 2 second job, you don't have to swist a knob to get to the right height. Switching the clamp from one side to the other also takes seconds, you don't have to undo any wing nuts

removing or sliding the rear fences again are quick release, not held on by wing nuts

fine turning compund mitres are really easy without having to hold the weight of the saw whilst you tighten it back up, you can get half degree adjustments just by turning a handle at the front. Same thing with trench cuts

i couldn't imagine not having my kapex now, ive had it since 2010, for me its worth it just for the bevel adjustment

the ug cart system is worth its weight too, for me and how i work
