Cracking job wes! Fantastic workmanship indeed! :thumbright: I've got that flooring in my living room although it's original parquet and 60 years old!

Attention to detail is commendable! No wonder the client is pleased!!
Any part of it you are not 100% with? Or would have done differently. ?

Brilliant job, and so worth doing properly.
At the church where I used to work, the parish hall was once the primary school and had 100 year old parquet. We had it sanded and re sealed, and it looked like new by the time they finished. Definitely an investment for the future.

Thanks Cal :thumbright:

Yes there is a part I would have done differently. Well, more of a school boy error really. I forgot to pay special attention to the fire heart! I normally do, but with all that went on with this floor, I just forgot. Anyway, when the hearth went in, there was a 5 mm gap at one side. I hadn't set markers for perfectly level, specifically in that area. I think I must have got carried away with how good the self levelling products were I perhaps thought the hearth didn't need to be checked. Won't be happening again! I had to use a black sealant to disguise the f@k up (Possibly just visible in the hearth pic). Not my finest moment

Thanks bg :thumbright:

Yep, they really are long term floors and are simply timeless IMO. Well worth the money :-)

Great job - did you use just a trowel and spiked roller to lay the SLC?

Thanks Bill. Yes we did. We also used 'screed level pins' (measured using the lazer and staff method - you can actually just see one of them in the first 'mesh' picture - top right and red) to help gauge the deeper areas when we applied the K301. It doesn't look like it but we had to build a lot of the floor up by 15 mm or so.

We couldn't use the pin roller all the time, as the depth was to great with the K301. The pin roller just creates a kind of bow wave. Hope that answers your question mate.

Oh, I would add, we've just installed a 30 mm depth self levelling on another job and actually used a garden rake (the thin wire type) to run through the levelling and it worked a treat :-)

Used f-ball slc loads Bruno. We're using a full f-ball spec on our current job. F77 and stopgap 300 HD. Can't fault either Ardex or F-ball gear. Although, f-ball are more geared towards toppings whereas Ardex also cater a little further down with screeds etc. F-ball is a little better on price..

I'm not a big fan of the older bitumen specs. I've ripped too many of them up :-)

The adhesive I mainly use are modified silicate types (http://www.rewmar.co.uk/rewmar-ms-polym ... sive-16kg/)..It gives excellent allowance for seasonal shift (exceptional elasticity). The problem with the older bitumen types is they were prone to tearing as they would go brittle over the years, causing an opening for moisture and just generally de-bonding...Not all the time of course..
