Well....
Bloomin typical we get the 'perfect storm' every day almost since I last posted

Here's a little progress Ive made since the last post.
It's taken a couple of half afternoons and the odd hour here and there but its almost ready for the DPM and insulation then ply lining and electrics ::b

Sorry in advance for all the piccies!!! I was really getting into using my new camera

With hindsight I would have gone custom because its been a right PITA making rafters with the roof in place (and it was NOT flat..at all!!) and non 'true' measurements of the shed to start. Although I was able to make a template for the cut angles only a couple of them were the same so I had to do custom for all the others :( )

To any nitpickers...I did think about some collar ties but there just isnt enough headroom (again...there would be if I had gone custom)

having said that, the weather has been so bad of late going custom would have been a nightmare as I have no where to work undercover to build the shed sides and whatnot.
All of this is done using my 'patio edge' workbench and handsaw. Both cutting edge pieces of machinery

Oh. and Ive got to make some 'proper doors' for it as well.

As a sidenote, I bought all the timber (nearly all) from a local timber merchants and the quality and pridce was superb.

Then today, i need a few more lengths so I nipped into wickes on my way home.
Well, I bought the timber but the quality is shocking (PSE - with half rounded edges, crappy quality wood, and the only 3 straight pieces I could find out of a big warped rack full) :cb (and price wasnt good either)
Never again will I stray away from a proper timber yard....

Also, theres a few noggins to come on the back wall...Im just measuring up as I need some fixings for a workbench Im going to make and put there with some shelves above it and whatnot

rough saw would have been a lot cheaper

what material are you finnishing with on the inside i would go for 12mm ply on the walls then you can hang anything from it without added strengthening

It wouldnt....I got a very good deal from the timber merchant on this 2x2 PSE (I know the guy pretty well)

And I didnt want to use 2 by 3 Rough Sawn because of the space Id lose (I didnt want to rotate them to use the 2" edge because they are weak in that orientation).
And they didnt have 2 x 2 rough sawn  !

For the inside using 9mm exterior ply big all.

I did think about 12mm but Im not going to be hanging anything heavy on the walls and the cost is mounting rapidly but it should do fine.
The weighty stuff is all going to be on the floor :) (with legs or stand)

That is looking like a very beefy shed :thumbright: keep the pics coming :thumbright:
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?"
She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I have finally succumbed and cant wait for those pillocks (waltons) to deliver the (already not arrived 2x) doors so Im going to make a pair up in slightly beefier fashion than theirs

Will post some piccies of it all :thumbright:

What a top shed, I wish I'd beefed up mine, it was a freebie a friend of my wife was going to pay someone to take it away.
I should have charged him, instead I dismantled and took away.
Along with about 50 various slabs they didn't want, came in handy a greenhouse floor etc.

Thanks John.
I used the analogy that 'if I dont do it know, it will never be done' so even though I need to use the space asap I thought I better do it before I fill it chock full of workbenches and tools and whatnot!! Because once its full...theres no going back

I tell you what Woody, this shed is perched on my patio and takes a severe pasting from the wind off the Moors (I'm high up on the hills)..

Before the framing I was very concerned the shed was going to be damaged by the weather (gale force winds and earthquakes etc!)...with the framework in place it is so much more solid... Im pretty sure even the 'perfect' storm won't shift it!!
