My start screen was the same as my 8.1. All in it went over very smoothly and I have only had a few issues with Firefox. I had to refesh it to get my saved passwords reinstalled and I am having trouble getting the spell checking to work on here for example. The new Explorer is actually very good though when I had a play with it.
All in I am much happier with 10 than 8.1

I know it should work, but the fact is, it doesn't
And the compatibility check didn't say this was a problem before you upgraded?

Thanks for asking, no problems were highlighted.
I re named the connection, and now there is another connection option that is the same as the one BEFORE i renamed it to what it is.
For the sake of argument:
1) Internet connection
2) wifi connection
I rename 1)
1) My cable connection
2) Wifi connection
Now I get:
1) My cable connection
2) Internet connection
3) wifi connection
(I put the numbers in just for this post)
I am wondering is it something to do with a fire wall. I will have a look shortly.

What firewall software?
I'm sure it tells you to uninstall third party software like that before doing the upgrade - some use virtual adaptors, which might explain the unknown device you have.
Remove the firewall software, open device manager and delete ALL the network devices. Restart and let it detect the hardware again. You should end up with the correct number - then install 3rd party software as needed (assuming it's compatible).

Thanks BillyGoat, here in lies another problem. I don't have a fire wall. I am only guessing. I used to have
Zone alarm, but I removed that some months ago. I do have AVG but that is anti-virus.

Now this is odd.
Above is a screen shot of my connections. You can clearly see I am now connected via a cable, and that the wifi connection is not being used. Odd thing is, I have done ...............nothing.
