I have been to PC world and Currys and looked on the internet, it's when I think I have spotted the model that will suit us then you read about something that someone doesn't like so you start searching again! then burn out for a while! It's just for home use in general and images but I have some HD camcorder digital files which our lappy can't cope with and i would like to be able to import them and edit them for the family, I'm sure one of u guys will have suggestions on what I should look at and in a way that doesn't confuse this technofobe!
Thanks in advance

ok, the reason i have been seeking advice about a new a new laptop is because our one was crashing! I mean every night several times, but it hasn't crashed for weeks! done everything I've asked of it and its a bl**dy dinasour or as mt wife says, 'it's a crocodile! when u think of it she is not far off! I'm not that stupid to think this is not short lived but it is working with no problem, tonight it has been on for about 6 hours and no no crashes, after 9 yrs it's been a good servent but shows no death throws as yet.

Mac's have a totally different operating system than a PC, it can take a while to get used to it.
They are also said to be over priced.
If you buy one from an Apple shop they will show you how to set it up / use it, they are very good like that.
I guess it comes down to how much you really want to spend. Oh and most of the programmes you have probably won't work on a Mac, so you will have to buy them again.

You can run windows along side iOS on an apple using Parallels etc.
