village idiot, you are NOT wrong, but it applies to any BT customer (me as well) so if I am out I can use any one with BT's wifi. But to use that much in a short space of time, i think you would need to watch films all day? (I don't know)

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.

Hmmmmmmmmmm

Still no further forward as to what / who is using the internet.
It seems that my "public wifi usage" is NOT taken from my allowance.

Because of the star services we have, I couldn't see any other alternative (as I am in a contract I will have to pay a cancellation fee) so I have upgraded us to BT fibre unlimited.

The up side is I can switch all the mobile phones back on and the ipods, and the tablet. But overall I am not 100% happy, but am caught between the devil and the deep blue sea.

Unlimited is the way to go. As soon as BT fibre is switched on in my area I'm upgrading and cancelling my sky sub and going for a kodi type box which I can't have just now due to the limited speed.

What do you lot do with all this download allowance?

My package used to be 80 gig per month, but only 15 gig was allowed at peak time - 9.00am to midnight.

They've recently changed it to 50 gig but with no peak times, (they never bothered to tell me, I found out by accident).

I only used to use about 10 gig max at peak times anyway.

I still don't get anywhere near to 15 gig even, but now I don't have to wait till past midnight (or get up early) to download Youtube stuff. Pottery videos - not porn you mucky lot.
One day it will all be firewood.

ayjay, what do I do with this allowance? that is the problem, I really don't know. Twice previously I went over my 25GB allowance (I think it was 25GB) Both times for the same reason, I had to download my entire itunes library (Kept at apples cloud, I defaulted my ipod) and that was months ago. I was offered a slightly better deal 45GB and since then that is when my problems seem to have started. so I am left with no choice but to go to unlimited. Will be interesting to see how much I use now (Ok as of Monday it goes unlimited)

There have been some major updates to windows - ios 10 on apple devices and android on adsl 3gb can go in less than 30-40 mins

I can do 80gb a month 1 game update this month was 2.5 gb, 10-20gb a month just with streaming, running 2 forums bumps the bandwidth plus random downloads

I think the point about having unlimited broadband is that you don't have to think about it. Until the question was asked here, I hadn't got a clue how much I had used. Obviously if somebody is using your's without you knowing then that would be a concern, but otherwise just use it and enjoy.

Basically it's a box you plug into your smart tv coupled with some downloadable software that gets you access to all of sky tv and more, latest movies etc. The boxes range from 30-75 quid.
You need decent broadband speeds tho.
