Hi,
Many thanks DWD for your excellent tips. Yes this is how I erected Carole's chain link fencing; because the chain link is heavy I added top rails for extra support; I ran a top and bottom bracing wire as well. I mixed the concrete for this fence but for my new fence I'll use postcrete; once the holes are dug and the posts positioned as you say by ramming in some hard core I'll use the long garden hose to drench the holes before adding the postcrete. I'll gather everything I need in readiness for when our nasty neighbours go on a cruise then I can work in peace without any interference from them; I'll take lots of pictures and ask two of our good neighbours to confirm the position of the new fence in relation to the original fence then I'll be covered against claims of land grab? It beats me why a couple live together who are always enacting WW3; it's no fun when these neighbours are falling out; he must be 80 years old and has suffered three heart attacks but he screams at the top of his voice at his silly wife who is forever winding him up in fact they are well matched; the war is played out to the rear of their bungalow but to the front of their bungalow everyone would think they were good people; hardly a marriage made in heaven?
The pictures below show the fence I erected for Carole; Carole's garden too is steeply sloping making such work very difficult; I had to chop our laurels back and remove the original fence; it took a week to complete the job working on my own.
Kind regards, Col.
