Re: England vs. Croatia. Are you watching ?
Scotland would’ve beat Tunisia,Panama and probably got beaten by Belgium’s reserve team like England did. We certainly would’ve had a chance against Sweden and Columbia who are both poor/average.
The first real test England had they fell short, let’s be honest they don’t have a creative midfielder and John stones is suspect against better players. Lots of the team haven’t won anything and play in mid table premiership teams.
Like ayjay said tho,we’ve not qualified for two decades and counting...

Re: England vs. Croatia. Are you watching ?
England were not as good as the hype, only 3 goals from free play (I think) and against Croatia they were completely overwhelmed in midfield and resorted to the long ball game.
Croatia were running at our players right from the off and deserved the win.
If I had been Southgate I'd have brought Vardy on as soon as Croatia equalised, with those long balls forward he'd have had at least half a chance of a goal...

The problem is we accept we are a small country and we play to our means. We are happy to just qualify while England show disrespect to other teams by writing them off. They even spent ten minutes the other night discussing how they would play France in the finalsteviejoiner74 wrote:Scotland would’ve beat Tunisia,Panama and probably got beaten by Belgium’s reserve team like England did. I'm convinced the powers that be in England intentionally stifle the Scots and Irish leagues. The Sky money is an example. Why is why I left Sky a few years ago. All my money goes into the Scottish game.
It's the english media that go over board and some fans seem to suck it up. Roy keane was spot on when he said a few weeks ago to take one game at a time but no one listened.
On a positive note I thought Southgate and the players handled themselves impeccably but I won't hide it, I'm glad you got beat. All this whataboutery expecting Scots to support you because we're your neighbours. f*ck that! Does that mean you'll be supporting France because they are your neighbours?

I always find the anti English feelings a bit sad, I recall that we supported Scotland that time they got there which must be 20 years ago. I think it shows a lack of sportsmanship in general and of course most English folk expect the reaction as an unnecessary Scottish churlish response.Lets face it the English teams of the past have been pretty poor but at least this team carried themselves with a bit of decorum and we did have a genuine hope for a short period.
The Tour De France is much better and although there are no Scots riders there is David Millar commentating.

English fans were heard singing during one game 'are you Scotland in disguise'. We weren't even there. It's a two way street.dewaltdisney wrote:I always find the anti English feelings a bit sad, I recall that we supported Scotland that time they got there which must be 20 years ago. Fair point, I wish there was more common support for each other, but it will never happen I guess.

Not until it's a level playing field (pun intended) which will never happen.dewaltdisney wrote:Fair point, I wish there was more common support for each other, but it will never happen I guess.

Re: England vs. Croatia. Are you watching ?
It's the Scottish chip on the shoulder - comparing Scottish football to English etc. The Scottish Premier versus the English Premier? Celtic would be lucky to match English second division teams. There IS no comparison - end of.
The Scottish TV was even comparing Columbia and Scotland, wondering why a similarly small country can get to the finals but Scotland hasn't reached the play-offs for decades. I wasn't paying attention......
Didn't Scotland get to the play-offs one year but get sent home for drug abuse???

The most recent CL games against Man City ended in an aggregate score home and away of 4-4.Celtic would be lucky to match English second division teams. There IS no comparison - end of
Rangers just humped second division team Bury 6-0 last week.
One player was sent home in 1978 (40 yrs ago) by the SFA for failing a drug test.Didn't Scotland get to the play-offs one year but get sent home for drug abuse???
Maybe it's best to take a back seat next time footballs discussed. You are clearly clueless on that matter.

If Armstrong had passed to the left rather than the right during the Engerlund game we wouldn't have gave away Engerlunds equalising goal and we would have qualified.steviejoiner74 wrote:Scotland would’ve beat Tunisia,Panama and probably got beaten by Belgium’s reserve team like England did. Then again if your auntie had baws she'd be your uncle
We were unlucky not to qualify but even when Engerlund played us they were found wanting.
