When I worked offshore and living in Surrey, I was up and down to Aberdeen a couple of times a month. My local landlord was a miserable sod and hated Scottish notes but was too grippy to turn them down.
I would always get £50 in £1 notes at Aberdeen airport - just to use in the pub, I'd also pop in at lunchtime when a lass I knew was working and she'd change my English currency for the Scottish notes in the till so I could keep on feeding them through the system - it was worth the hassle just to see the old git squirm!
