Re: OBD2 devices
Thanks for doing that Bob - quite informative and illustrating the issue (if you want to call it that) of your supposed version 1.4a not even existing!
I'll do my two devices today and see what happens.

Re: OBD2 devices
My cheapo Bluetooth version produced the exact same results as yours Bob. My other version is USB connected so won't work with that app unless I convert it to Bluetooth - I may do so temprarily just for comparison sake.
My 'genuine' device should give me 'green across the screen' it being purchased from ELM only a couple of weeks ago so presumably the latest software version. I have no idea what we might be mnissing between the V1.4 and V2.2 versions as far as usefulness is concerned. The ELM webiste shows the upgrades from 1.4 to 2.2 but it doesn't mean a lot to me being as how I'm not 100% familiar with the protocols vehicles use anyway.
What's needed is a comprehensive list of devices and the results as per that App so it is possible to eliminate the crap devices and/or give users the ability to chose devices that do what they are meant to do.

Re: OBD2 devices
Ok, my USB version reports version 1.5 (fake!) and the same capabilities as the one shown above.
It'll take me a day or so to finish putting the genuine ELM327 board together but I'll repeat the test on that one as soon as I can and get back to you.
What we can take from the findings so far is that they all are fake and that the best they can do is up to a genuine V1.4 - anything after that is a no-go area.
