Those cupboards do sound worth saving. The door design isn't too old fashioned in my opinion so maybe with some sanding and a coat of paint they could be brought into a modern design quite well, I know you have good taste from other pictures I have seen.

Well hello...
Posting here six years later.
The update is that life has not been kind and believe it or not, the house is only just now 'Nearly' finished, although I still haven't moved in. Sadly I've had in-explainable problems, including me nearly not being here to tell the tale. :-(

I may bring the topic up to date, and I'll be sure to upload pics here rather than host them elsewhere (Damn you photobucket!)

PS: I did save the cupboards and they turned out really well I think...

Be well all.

Don't beat yourself up buddy. I bought my home in 2012 and I'll still working on it. I do get an earful from family and friends (why is it not done yet) but have learned to ignore it. Life is hard, it gets in the way, mental capacity when doing a fulltime job is limited so small things like measuring up to place an order seem like a mountain.

I look back at some of the work I've done and think, "what a numpty why did you do it like that" but that through older and wiser eyes. Now I know better. I feel a lot better when I see some "professional" work people and paid money for and know I can do a lot better.
