You are not rcd protecting the ring you are rcd protecting the spur that is taken from the ring!
For the light take a spur of a socket in the conservatory and use a fused connection untit and put a 3 or 5 amp fuse in it, then wire your light up to this.

Testing used to be a requirement of part P but it's not since April 2006. So only BS 7671 requires you to test and write a certificate. You don't have to do either.
You are supposed to notify if you work in the kitchen - to link to the ring for example, but who's looking?
As for the RCD you have 2 choices - to link your extra sockets off an RCD spur as suggested by UHM or bung in an RCD socket on the outside wall so you don't have to put the inside sockets on an RCD. Although an outside socket is - outside, you are allowed to do this by part P without notifying provided the wires go straight into the back of the socket box.

That's the info I needed! I wont be going near the kitchen or bathroom so extending the ring from a bedroom is the answer!
Think I'll take your advice and put a rcd socket on the outside of the wall.
Though that must be one the best kept secrets up to now as I was under the impression that it was notifiable!
So no visible wiring on the outside = OK 8-)
