Just wondering if the Malicious Software Removal Tool, that runs when updated by MS updates, has found the hijacker and removed it. Just a thought.

yes full norton internet security, although i still have problems downloading I now have IE8 thanks for that somethink is going wright bar downloads my computer is like a bullet very fast just the download problem

am going to try safe mode and see from there, but bloody hell its a lot quicker now, if these threads work out just to let u know I dont have a kiss arse icon

shame the distance is so far I'm sure I could find a few quick jobs that need a pro of any trades attention lol (just kidding)

Just a quick tip none has mentioned yet is when it was stopping you doing anything you could have tried ctrl alt del to findout what programmes were running.It may have shown up your problem programme that was slowing things up. Once you knew what it was you could have then gone to run and typed in msconfig and selective start up to se if its starting up when you switch on. By stopping it starting up you could have then carried on with what the others are recommending.

I use firefox and avg free edition and dont get any problems at all btw.

I never use ie at all now as firefox is so much better imho

Got java got adobe software, so problems accessing any pages or games

My first post is back , so i will follow all the advice from before, but will take more consideration to where on the internet I travel, should not norton detect this little sh@t, the next time the extra ie I will give the bloody name

Tell us exactly what is happening when your computer freezes.
What wording does the page have on it?
How do you get rid of it? Shut down or what, and if you shutdown can you do it via the start button?

Start in safe mode as mentioned before and open IE and try to download the malwarebytes again, from Malwarebytes AntiMalware
If it downloads, install it whilst still in safe mode and check for updates, then do a quick scan.
