Quick question though are those 4" joists? I thought you weren't allowed to cut notches in them??

I'm not sure now all the floor is fixed down. I tried to re-use all the notches that were there when I lifted the old floorboards. This was all done prior to me moving in im afraid

Just checked as the bottom of the joists past the floor in the bathroom are on show as beams in the room below

there is 3" of beam showing underneath, plus whatever is above, so i'd say at least 6" joists

what adhesive for the marmox did you use

is that the stabila laser level you have there, just bought one last mth. are you keeping a eye on the budget, nice to see top end materials being used. they do come at a cost

Yes I screwed the marmox boards down with plastic washers and stainless screws.

I used marmox sealant in between all the boards too for a waterproof seal. I shall also be tanking with mapegum and taping all the joins before I lay the UFH and the SLC screed over the top

The adhesive was a SPF cementous mix. Mapei Keraflex to be exact.

Hi Prem. Yep its a stabila. Has been a lifesaver whilst tiling my kitchen and putting up the walls in the bathroom. It doesnt do floors though so I have just bought a cheapy Stanley S2 laser floor square.

You are right about quality materials costing. Ive just bought another 5 bags of keraflex ready to use for the floor and walls. 10kg of kerapoxy grout and 3 bags of mapei fibre SLC... not a good day on the wallet!

Yeah the driver slipped a few times!

I ended up using quite short screws that took up the 6mm cement board, a few mill for the adehsive and the 18mm for the ply

that way there was no danger of piercing any pipework

WELL, today I have been sealing, taping and tanking. Horrible job.. especially when you run out of tape. 30 metres not enough!? So had to run down to Marmox AGAIN!

Tomorrow i'll do the second coat... tell you what.. this mapegum is THICK. doesnt seem to go very far either. NEarly done a 5kg tub for what you can see below.

Ohh I ordered a load of tools/goodies from tradetiler and kwikstick (or something similar) so tiling wont be long!

Im knackered, time for a steak and vodka tonight!
