I thought you could use any of the Li super chargers? It doesn't have to be the brand new green ones does it surely? My BCL1800 charges the other sizes of Li no problems.

Just checked it and it says its charged as normal and batteries LED indicator is full.

Find out tomorrow!

Paul.

my worry is it may charge the battery and do one off 2 things
[A] charge the battery till its around say 2.4-3ah and stop charging this will be high enough for the battery to show a green marker say 67-100% charged
or shorten the chargers life as its having to work 50% more to charge the batteries
now if you have more than one charger it may not matter if its but iff its [A] you loose out on capacity :dunno:

i will be buying a couple off batteries soon and a charger so will do an experiment :thumbright:

Well had a few minutes before work this morning to give the battery and grinder a test run....

....and its like using a whole new tool! The grinder has more power and I even found myself applying a bit of 'weight' to it which was impossible before! I cut 2mm box section no problem, 4mm plate steal without to much hassle. Then went for some 6mm plate which although way slower than a mains grinder, it cut a 6inch section. The battery has 2 bars of power left after about 14 continuous cuts.

I can say its made a huge difference to the grinder which to be honest I was thinking about selling! May just keep it now! :thumbleft:

Emailed Ryobi to find out what chargers can be used, awaiting response!

Regards,
Paul.

I may just have to get one of these.
I'm still running on the 3x 1.7Ah batteries I got with my kit a while back.

But they don't get as much use as they used to. Been a bit lazy on the DIY front this year.

Just a little side note to these new muscle version batteries.

Unless you have "Wera" driver bits, don't even try using a freshly charged 4.0Ah battery in an impact driver. It chew-up and spat out the Screwfix's Chrome vanadium bits & Draper gold (Titanium-coated), that was lagging 4" 12 into 60 years old ceiling joists.

So it would seem, power ain't always a good thing.

although higher ah batteries will have a small bit off extra power for a while
most off the extra umph is because batteries loose power with age
so a 2 year old battery could be anywhere between 10 and 50% less power
think off the volts as the engine and the ah[amp hour] as the fuel tank

BA an interesting side effect of these over voltage units is that my laser line on the P551 Mitre Saw works great again now, I never did get around to pulling it apart but, needed it one for a lot of cuts, chucked the 4.0ah in and bingo the laser works fine :huray:

:dunno: why and don't care either, I'm now shopping for 3 more 4's and a couple or three 1.5's, think they'll look the mutts nutts in a 6 port charger and I've just freed up my other insulated shed and its metal peg board for such goodies as hand tools.

Bit of a Ryobi One+ fan myself and after probably a bit too much research and a sneaky phone call to their technical team I've found the answer to the mysterious power :huray:

Their new battery cells are low impedance (google it) so more energy flows to the tools than their older batteries they explain it like a tap and it's now on full AND they have individual cell monitoring so they don't have to waste cell space trying to make sure they aren't over charging or over draining the cells.

GENIUS!

I'm sure with this info well all sleep better at night :B

After finding this all out it would be rude for me not to purchase yes??
