Sheets go vertical down south.
Only seen bodge work where the sheets are horizontal. Not that horizontal is a bodge, just been a coincidence.

I've got to agree with Stevie, 600c for me. Why 400c? Unless you're using 9.5mm PB maybe and who cares how pretty it looks? once it's covered it won't be seen again!. Even load bearing /shear walls are 600c covered in structural ply. PB even has Xs printed down the centre for 600c.
I noticed some one saying they set wall studs at 450! Why?
Sheets can go any way vertical, horizontal...try fitting 3000x1200 vertical!

I've done 3.6 x 1200 sheets vertical, was a total nightmare as there were socket and switch cut outs galore!!

steviejoiner74 wrote:I think a lot of you guys doon sooth do 400 centres to accommodate running wall sheets horizontal which I find strange as well. Anybody got a proper reason for 400 centres over 600 yet
Yes I got a reason.. I'm sayin a nice house with a nice car and van outside and a diary booked up for 2years. I that's not because I charge to much!! Majority of my work is for developers all of these company's are either owned or run by ex carpenters/joiners they like me because I do the job correctly and go that extra mile to deliver a better more solid job.

400 goes into 1200 and 2400 which is what the sheet happen to be, and it makes for a stronger job.
Do a job for me with 600 centers and you'd be making some alterations or not getting paid.
Especially if it were a ceiling

Done plenty of double lift jobs on partitions where we used 3M boards vertically. Plenty of double lift with Dufolite boards too.
I know it is different due to being metal stud and track or ally demountable partition system but boards at height are a pain whatever way they are orientated.
Not all sheets have markings for 600mm
