Not sure what makes a team "smaller", is it just history? In population terms, and therefore fan base, Newcastle and Southampton have very similar figures.
Newcastle have won more cup competitions than Southampton, but there's many teams in lower divisions now with a more illustrious history than Newcastle: Leeds, Wolves, Notts Forest, Preston North End and many more, they've been and gone and are always hoping to get back, it's tough fin.
Pardew is a bit crap, but we've had a fair few lemons at Tottenham since Bill Nicholson's days (yes, I saw them playing back then), Peter Shreeves - twice, Ossie Ardiles, Christian Gross, David Pleat - thrice!, Jaques Santini, Juande Ramos, AVB, and a few more that never did much of anything, Terry Neil, George Graham, Doug Livermore, Clive Allen.
sooooo excitttteeedddddd footy season starts this weekend

well like fan base and ground size and attendances. ill bet theres still kicking onto 50,000 at sjp next weekend. my point is newcastle repeatedly say they cant compete with just about anyone. we scout players and then swansea come and offer them better money. come on..... swansea... or newcastle united... its so annoying like.fin wrote:ayjay wrote:fin wrote: southampton made light work of us today. ney disrespect like. but we should be better than teams like southampton or west brom or crystal palace or whichever smaller teams you wanna pick. not behind them.

i dunno what happened with avb like. he had all the credentials to be mint. but he was hopeless.
the way our board say we cant compete against all the big clubs like southampton or swansea or anyone else. its rediculous. and the quality of players signed wouldnt last long on a tuesday night with my mates

ahh i thought he was a boldon colliery lad.
theres some major sh*t wrong at newcastle like. my sister works as a broadcast journalist for radio newcastle. she told me that to deal with newcastle is a total nightmare. horrible rude staff. never get told anything. beent he same for years not just mike ashley and his idiotic banning policies when a paper prints a story he doesnt like.
the mackems on the other hand are very media friendly. apart from to the sun. but i can just imagine the mackems being a much nicer to deal with club in general.

Well Remie has been called the 'n-word' and even punched in the face by a Newcastle staff member (names witheld for reasons of potential legal suit pending).....
I don't think any other club COULD be worse......

hmmm would the staff member be a certain club legend by any chance? the whole club is riddled with tossers that need sacking. its a disaster zone at all levels. and sadly not even sacking the poor bloke in charge will sort that out.
i do kinda feel bad for pardew now thinking about it. hes left as the public face of the club as nobody else ever speaks about anything at all.

Re: sooooo excitttteeedddddd footy season starts this weeken
well i was angry after goin to graft then workin over all my bait times to finish early enough to catch most of the match (missed the first 10 minutes at the pub)
its a totally flawed recruitment strategy that originates with the puppet master himself. only a few months back we were told the club would make one or two signings a season to maintain the squad....
this close season we signed nine players. sent two back to their old clubs (a very good move considering newcastle uniteds ability to untrain any decent player)
there was no proven centre half in the signings. even though its obvious to everyone we need one. also there was no proven striker. just a french league 1 striker and a spanish second division striker. they let it be known that theyd signed a player to basically replace the hull bound hatem ben arfa who was obviously going to be immediately injured. theyve chased another centre half so the club is down to 3 senior centre halfs and one of them is steven taylor. the continued shocking treatment of jonas gutierez which is to me a total disgrace. if hes finished release him. thanks very much jonas youve been a great servant leave with our blessing.... instead lets be a t*at to the bloke that stuck by the club when we were relegated.
any player that displays a kinda of loyalty to the club is treated like a t*at. any player that is a mercenary t*at is repeatedly tried to be signed (loic remy) or allowed to go on strike to force a move (yohan cabeye) though he apparently reccomended us to one or 2 recent signings.
the club is totally rotten and removing alan pardew will not make a shred of difference unfortunately.
and i do actually feel for him a bit coz hes basically gotta do what hes told regardless yet still face the fans and be the scapegoat for each defeat.
not signing anyone for 2 or 3 transfer windows was completely rediculous. in any job if you know your jobs safe no matter if you work to high standards or let em slip are you gonna give that much of a toss if ya guaranteed to pick up ya wedge every week no matter what ya performance is? for the next 5 1\2 years? those contracts are bloody stupid.
the young footy players should be set a minimum wage of say £500 per week till theyre 21 and also have to do a propper trade type apprenticeship. wether thats in building trade or motor trade or whatever to give them a propper realistic idea and to not be complete and total bell ends

I was watching the Nottingham Forest/Derby County match up the club on Sunday afternoon and the thought struck me.... Wouldn't Louis Suarez look bloody great in the new Derby County football shirt !!!! (yep the ones with "Just Eat" emblazoned right across them) Reckon Steve McLaren missed a trick there.

Re: sooooo excitttteeedddddd footy season starts this weeken
sad news broke this evening that jonas gutierez has been diagnosed with testicular cancer. i wondered why he had been away for so long. the club saying he has been sent to train at home and look for another club hasnt really helped matters. obviously they wouldnt want to discuss personal health matters. but surely they could have known that as a fairly popular player saying hes been sent home to look for another club is a poor way around the situation.

I think you might have a chance on Monday at Stoke fin, but I can only see a drubbing for my lot at the Arsenal today.
I'm not seeing many bragging rights coming my way any time soon.
I'd settle for a 0_0 right now, anything better will be an unexpected bonus.

Half time = 0_0, Arteta and Ramsey both subbed, yellow cards for the Ox and Wilshere, and just the one yellow for spurs hard-man Lamela,
I still can't see a Spurs win yet.
