Thanks, we originally planned for doors but I think it would have looked 'messy' with a Juliet balcony. We have the Velux for airflow and I think just having the window looks cleaner and doesn't obstruct the view as much.

Well done! Excellent progress considering you are doing everything yourself!
I agree with the windows as opposed to the French windows. We proposed similar door/balcony on our extension on the gable wall but the planners thought that wall would be too large in mass and scaling. Maybe the window would have looked more part of the building & they would have accepted!

In the end had to agree with loosing the full height gable for a hipped roof with 4 velux's in it!

I love that view. Good decision on the windows, French doors would ruin the look. Well done, it is coming in really well.

it's finally getting to the point where we can start looking at ordering the furnishings, lights, etc and now the dormer is watertight we can start to plan the bathroom!

little update, fitted the floor in the dormer/bathroom. Need to start buying the fittings so I can work out waste and water runs before fixing the floor down. It's going to have underfloor heating so I've fitted 25mm ply in between the floor joists, insulation boards will go over these, then the heating mat and then SLC, just to make sure the whole floor level remains the same - I didn't want any kind of step.

Thanks, getting there slowly! It'll be an electric mat but haven't decided on what make/type yet.

bit of an update, not done a lot last month as I had to go away for a few weekends. Last weekend's weather was nice and sunny so had a couple of days to fibreglass the roof of the dormer.....what a job! I've fibreglassed before but on cars - this was another level and I did it all on my own - just over 10m2, should have had someone helping really as it was difficult to try and wet the whole mat before the resin would go off. Couple of small areas need sanding back and I need to recoat the topcoat but overall pretty pleased with the job. At least it's water tight now!!!

Need to try and get some time to render the boards now.

Finished plasterboarding the landing and started to prep the smaller bedroom and landing for plaster last weekend. My brother came over and started plastering yesterday and this morning.
