I use an Ebauer one - I think it was about £60 new. Needs regular greasing, as I guess they all do. The chuck is okay. I have a lighter version of this one from Lidl - all seems okay, it has been used for mixing about 30 tubs of different plasters and a couple of hundred holes. The hammer action seems to be a bit harder to get going - but I haven't lubricated it yet.

I bought the ratchet & bit set, the angle finder & calipers. All fairly good quality for my needs & I got a fiver off for spending over 25 quid with their discount card, that the wee lassie at the check-out gave me.......well chuffed

I bought the Sds drill, haven't used it yet but we are about to move house in the next month and it wil be used a fair bit then.
After reading some stories about the bit getting stuck in the chuck, I read a tip that if you put a smear of Vaseline on the bit when you push it in then it makes it easier to take out. I don't know if it is true but I reckon that if you don't put some kind of lubricant on the thing then you are asking for trouble.

Still the drill looks good enough for what I want and when I get to use it I will give feedback to the forum. The next thing is where to buy a good quality range of drills for general use?

Well I have had it for a few years now and you can just about tell I have used some

The main thing I use it for is to lube my lathe chucks, most other things in the shop require oil rather than grease.

The trouble for me will come when we unpack all our stuff in our new house and then I ask ; now which box did I pack that little bottle of grease that I bought?.........

I would have thought any grease would do - a bit alarmed by just buying that tiny quantity for such a lot of money. The Ebauer one has a grease port and you have to use 100ml per refil.

The lidl one does not have a port to fill up with grease, it is only to help insertion and removal of the bits.
But I do wonder what the data sheet ( coshh ) says as to regards viscosity and temperature performance for the Makita lube. It is probably the right stuff for filling a dedicated port, but to lube the bit ( just a smear ) any grease should do I would think.

I bought one of those Lidl SDS+ drills when the local Bath store had them for £14.99!! (Well I'd have been daft not to wouldn't I!. AND it came with two chisels,three SDS drills, SDS chuck adaptor and 3 year warranty! I would have bought more and sold them on E-bay but it was the last one.

I have used it a couple of times now for chiseling away concrete for a fence project and it's AWSOME! It seems fairly robust, but how it will perform in the future remains to be seen. It'll probably be OK for anything I want it for, and is allready worth what I paid for it. Probably a bit OTT for chasing out but as a medium DEMO hammer probably fine.
