I paid 239 for the tool bare. I got a couple of spare generic 4ah batteries for 55 quid and they are every bit as good as dewalt ones.darrenba wrote:Travis Perkins are currently doing these for £330+vat (£396 inc) - about the cheapest I could see at present

deWalt DCN692P2 18 volt cordless 1st fix nailer review pt 1
Thanks again for good review.
I received mine this week.
Had it's first outing on a FEB fence. Was firing the 4" in the old fashioned way as only had loose nails on the job. Used ring shanks on the boards. Bump fire mode was good for the boards but not sure my old gas gun took long to reload so don't know if it actually save much time. Hopefully its some way to run in now. Had to remember to switch the speed down to 1 as apparently #2 causes excess wear with shorter nails.
I bought the tool bare so am now looking for some kind of case without spending mega dollar on dewalt T STACK . What options are out there?
Also the worst thing about it seems to be the tool hook. I was doubting it every time i hung it off belt or some timber. Ordered a new lanyard for it before I drop it off a scaff. Have either of you noticed this?

Had it on a roof this week. Working great, bump fire mode coming in useful on the bracing. Lucky I bought the carribina elasticated strap though it dropped off my tool belt would of been about a 15 metre drop between the scaffold down to below.
The rafter hook design is diabolical. Ok for rafters (ish) but no good at all for tool belts. Theres got to be a workaround for this I think I will buy a big clip and clip the gun to my belt every time.

Please excuse me if I'm logging into an older Thread.
1.0 I'm mightily impressed by the testing and Review write-up by Job and Knock.
For which, thank you.
2.0 Is this still the best buy or has it been overtaken by another make or an updated model by
deWalt.
3.0 Some suppliers like Screwfix seem to be out of stock, is this a general problem with
this item at ''real'' stores rather than Online only merchants.

lots and lots off dewalt has been "out off stock" but less and less as production catches up
dewalt prices over the last couple off years have gone up around 15-25% but as stock and competition kicks back in some prices are drifting down mostly with special offers rather than normal price

APDIY, I've mentioned on another thread that there is currently a global shipping issue, mainly due to the pandemic but exacerbated by the suez canal issue blockage, containers (empty) being in the wrong place, port congestion...
A year ago a 40 ft container from China to UK was averaging 3,500 USD. Currently anything from 12,000 to 20 ,000 USD, capacity compared to a year ago down to as low as 30% hence the price increase.
On top of that there are hundreds of container ships in dry dock for maintenance and of those still at sea hundreds more due for compulsory maintenance. Latest predictions are that things are not expected to get better until sometime in 2023.

I take the point about prices and availability
MYTOOLSHED is quoting
List Price £850.80
Price £664.94 INC VAT
Saving £185.86
They have a ''Medium'' level of stock.
Screwfix is offering the item at
£499.99 INC VAT
BUT, they don't have any in UK.
