Not Sure if it is Worth a Watch or Not?
Blimey Paul, I had to look that one up, I had totally forgotten it. Here is a trailer for those who may have their interest raised https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Ws2nblm33w On reflection I think I put it in the right 50/50 category

Not Sure if it is Worth a Watch or Not?
Mrs D watches a reality series 'The Yorkshire Auction House'. It grates me because Annie Hulley who does the voice-over commentary makes all these lame jokes and comments and the show would be much better without her efforts. In the main, it is a glorified clutter clearance and some stuff goes for tuppence but occasionally a decent collection of better-end stuff comes up and raises a decent sum. There was this lady who had worked on cruise ships and she had assembled a load of shite from around the World which all sold for £350, probably a fifth of what she spent buying it all. I sort of half enjoy it.

Not Sure if it is Worth a Watch or Not?
We watched last week's Gogglebox last night. This can be sometimes amusing and we can get leads on stuff we may have missed. This episode had more shite clips than good though and there was an overlong gay teenage series clip that went on far too long, a boring cooking bit, and I forget the rest. I was thinking if myself and Mrs D were cast on there our recordings would not be shown as there would be so much well-directed abuse.

I forgot the best bit on Gogglebox was a clip from Will and Ralf Should Know Better. I dislike Mellor but this clip had me laughing as they are on some kidnap survival type thing. They are a right couple of idiots in the mock scene with gunfire. That is actually worth a look as Mellor is a right twa t.

Not Sure if it is Worth a Watch or Not?
I started watching Nautilus on Prime. This new series is a reimagining of Jules Verne's novel and paints the bad guys as the East India Company. It says at the start that it is set in 1857, The EIC was dissolved in 1858 after the Indian Mutiny led to the country being ruled by Britain so we can see where this is going. The weapons are a mix of right and wrong. There is a Gatling gun used which was not invented until 1861 and a Henry rifle (forerunner of the Winchester) which was invented in 1860. I guess this can be forgiven given that the Nautilus is totally imaginary anyway but Disney+ dumped buying it and was picked up by Amazon. This would indicate that it was not worth what was being asked by the Australian production company. I am not sure if I will stick with it.

I tend to think of the Kirk Douglas James Mason film as the basis to view any other offering against and sadly can’t say that much has measured up so even if we had Amazon I doubt I’d make a bee line for it .
Incidentally I read the book many years ago and it was frankly nothing like the film versions . It read to me as if Jules Verne was listing from an encyclopaedia , seeing this fish and that fish …

I finally watched to the end of the first episode of Nautilus. It is rather weak not capturing the original magic of the Disney 20,000 Leagues, no wonder Disney+ dropped out of buying it. This is more knocking the East India Company and wicked profiteering directors plus Empire troops. We see an unbelievable ragtag group of different ethnic groups running the Nautilus. The EIC was rather like the famous bit from The Life of Brian, 'What has the EIC done for us' Well they gave us employment, roads, railways, the telegraph, local government, and police but they also gave peace with Muslims and Hindus living alongside each other. Look how well that went.

Not Sure if it is Worth a Watch or Not?
We finally got round to watching the RedEye programme that was onITV some time ago . Perhaps the fact that there was a gap of several weeks between us watching the first and last episodes points to it not being the greatest. It was watchable to the degree that we wanted to see where it was going but we thought the plot line was somewhat preposterous and frankly overly complicated. Perhaps they were going for that over the top James Bond style. Seemed to be a few loose ends as well . Watchable but not one to lose sleep over if one missed it .

I recall at the time I thought that Redeye was comedic with all the dead bodies stacking up and the pilot still flying on. It was a stupid overcomplex story with too many tenuous links. The worst actor was the lead's idiot sister, a supposed journalist, who in reality would not have made the shortlist for a Poundland job.

Not Sure if it is Worth a Watch or Not?
We watched the final third episode of A Very Royal Scandal on Prime. The series is a drama based on the car crash interview Prince Andrew stupidly allowed Emily Matliss to conduct over the alleged sex with a minor at Epstein's house. It ended both of them in different ways. He was dropped by the royals, and she became toxic, as no one would agree to be interviewed by her. It was both mildly entertaining as well as annoying.

Not Sure if it is Worth a Watch or Not?
Another cutting edge offering from myself…
I have mentioned that the church down the road holds monthly film nights and this week they showed the 2001 film Last Orders. Good cast , Micheal Caine , Bob Hoskins, Tom Courtney ,Ray Winston and Helen Mirren who all put in decent performances. The plot revolved around the death of Caines character and his wish for his ashes to be scattered at Margate. It’s a sort of road movie as they set off with the ashes . It’s told largely through the use of flashbacks which is a technique I’m not particularly fond of , I much prefer a chronological order . It’s probably an “ interesting “ film rather than one which could be called exciting. Not a bad film but if I’m honest if it had been on the telly I’d probably have flipped over, certainly not one for those who like fast paced films…

I think I missed it at the time as it did not appeal. Michael Caine is usually good but I thought it would be a cockney beanfeast with the others. Not my thing really.

Not Sure if it is Worth a Watch or Not?
I thought at the time it wouldn’t be your thing. I don’t mind slower films although this wasn’t the sort to grab me overly , just more of one of those “where are they going with this” but the timelines were back and forth all the time which I wasn’t fond of . The acting to be fair was pretty good they all came across as basically ordinary people even if they did have the cockney accents …

Not Sure if it is Worth a Watch or Not?
Mrs D has been watching a series on Netflix called Love Rats. It is a documentary series that follows people (mainly women) who have been conned out of money (often considerable amounts) by an internet love scam. The individual cases have a predictable similar pathway where the victims build total faith in a mythical person they meet online and after they are hooked they get constant requests for money to help get this person out of numerous scrapes. Common sense has gone and the victims never stand back and evaluate the situation and often ignore friends who try to intervene. In some ways you feel sorry for the victims but their gullibility tends to make you think differently. It is the reason that now when you do a money transfer you get a warning 'is this a scam'. This is not the caring bank protecting you it is them protecting themselves from having to reimburse victims of fraud. I even got a warning when I transferred £114 to Mrs D to reimburse her for the Tesco shop as I had left my cards at home and she paid. Bearing in mind this was a transfer from one of our accounts to another it warned me to check if this was a scam as they would not indemnify £100 of the £114 if it proved to be a fraud transaction.
There is a common thread among these victims, they are so desperate for the person to be real that they are blinded. One fool thought she was in contact with Gerard Butler for goodness sake. Often the lure is a (false) good-looking person who would normally be out of their victim's league. The hook is the long internet chats as these scammers are always in far-flung places working and this cements the (false) relationship.
It is worth watching one, the rest are the same.

Not Sure if it is Worth a Watch or Not?
We finished the ITV series, Joan. It started out promising but became unbelievable and absurd as it progressed. It rolled down to a predictable ending of stupidity. Often padded out and boring in parts this story which is based partly on real events became a slog to watch and it has taken us some weeks to watch all of it (we nearly dumped it) I suppose you could say good in parts
