Not worth a watch

Carry-On , not worth a watch - trying to be a diehard type thing - but failed , all very predictable
Surprised at the IMDB rating last night 6.6 ish (as is now) I would put at a 3 or 4

Not worth a watch

We watched the final episode of Strike, and although the last episode was a bit more lively, the whole thing was an overlong borefest. I could not pay enough attention to the lumbering story, as it lacked any credibility. The video game, at its heart, was reminiscent of a Sinclair Spectrum game; it was so pathetic. How this series could turn into such shite as the earlier series were quite watchable something drastic must have changed. One to miss.

Not worth a watch

Sometimes a drama is not worth a watch simply based on the trailer. This is true of a new Disney+ show coming out in 2025 but due to having to watch the advert for it continually on the forced adverts inserted in shows we watch we have had to endure the trailer for A Thousand Blows. This series is set in Victorian London but you would think it is a different Victorian London to that shown in historical photographs given the number of diverse actors appearing, history has yet again been rewritten. It also appears absurdly woke and stars Stephen Graham who is yet another actor I do not like. I consider this Not Worth a Watch before it even starts.

Mrs D inflicted the Netflix film King Richard on me. I thought it might be about the Crusades, but it is the story of the Williams tennis players Venus and Serena and their father's influence over their careers. It stars Will Smith, yet another actor I dislike, especially after the Chris Rock slap at the Oscars. He overacts, and even though I was not concentrating, I found him very annoying. One to miss.

Mrs D inflicted the first episode of Traitors on BBC1. I was not surprised by the bunch of diverse morons selected from the whooping, self-applauding, open-mouth-in-surprise, oh my God, brigade. It is already a worn-out theme and Claudia Winkleman is grating.

I will have to endure.

Anything to do with darts, I am sick and tired of having the '17 year old Luke Littler' in the papers all the time. A picture of him today made me think he is 17 and I look younger than him at my age. I will not be watching the rehash of Bullseye as it will no doubt be a sickening copy without Jim Bowen's wit to make it work. I have never seen why Flintoff appeals to producers, he has a complete charisma bypass.

We watched the first episode of the Good Ship Murder on C5 last night. We have watched the previous series because they were so bad they were good. The special at Christmas was very poor and the first in this new series was pathetic that it crossed the barrier into stupidland. The plot is set in Rome and despite the port Civitavecchia being 60 miles away we see the cast walking about Rome after leaving the ship. Add to that you could guess the thin plot, the very annoying daughter turning up, and a trio of goons solving the case.

The only good thing was a bit of sunshine on a cold winters night.

Mrs D wanted to see Gatcombe Park: A Royal Residence on C5. This was appallingly cheap TV, a knock-together of news clip footage and some lightweight commentators trotting out their guesses about everything from information already in the public domain. It is utter shite.

We decided against a new TV series Patience on C4 as we had watched the original French series on Walter Presents in the past when it was called Astrid: Murder in Paris. We watched the first two series and quite enjoyed them but it started to get a bit samey and by series 3 it descended into woke themes so we binned it. When I saw this new version I thought it would probably have jumped straight into woke so we have not bothered.

In the end, we tried one episode of C4's Patience and it was not bad and held us. Okay, there was the expected array of characters but the story was good and we will continue. Rerated to worth a watch.

I have given up on the latest series of Rogue Heroes on BBC1. This WW2 SAS drama was just so wrong in so many ways. The lead actor playing Paddy Mayne was so annoying and grated so much that it killed the series for me. None of it gelled for me and I could not stand it any longer. How to ruin a potentially good series with a crap script and poor actors.
