Adequate for messing about with.... but buy better rods :thumbright:

Uphand, generally speaking is stronger anyway :thumbright:

Welding a joint verticle, starting at the bottom and working upwards.
You get better penetration that way.

Takes a little more skill than running a weld on the flat.

What thickness metal could you weld using the uphand way with the machine dave is talking about.

For £30 I'm tempted to buy one, just to see if I can still do it after four decades.

Of course, there's one essential bit of kit missing from the Lidl collection. I won't mention what it is because I'm sure that diyjizz knows what it is. :lol:

Let me see now stojizzer it doesnt come with rods or gloves or apron ,some people think they know it all :wink: :roll: You know its electric dont you stojizz,what about some photos of your famous work,even if they are in black and white :-)

I dont know how old old stoggie is but looking at a photo he posted on this site he must be coming up to 90 :lol: His eyesight might not be up to it, i think he has a prescription windscreen on his car or its magnified :wink: :lol: :-)

If you have never done MMA welding before, that Lidl machine will be a hard one to attempt to learn on. They produce an AC arc, and i believe they have a pretty low OCV, which makes the initial arc quite hard to strike.

I have said it already, if you only plan on making one gate, just get someone else to do it. Or buy one ready made.

No i dont,as you say i will probably get someone to make it for me ,its been a laugh anyway cheers. :lol: Hitch what do you think of them garden gates at wickes a bit of alteration and i am on a winner lol :wink:

Poor old stojzzer is upset isnt it past your bedtime ,hasnt nurse tucked you in lol :-) .ELECTRICITY ECONOMICS CONSULTANT was that your job going around to houses trying to get them to change to a cheaper tariff,calm down grandad you dont want to soil your kaks for the 5th time today.You must have been a good swimmer when they tried to flush you down the bog.

Flimsy, only tacked together, crappy plastic coated.
But they are cheap.

One like i imagine you want, is about £100 in wickes, £120 in galvanised.

The last 3' gate i made cost me £20 just to have hot dip galv'd.
