last try... ::b

anyway rant over..

Here is one I did at the weekend, the pics which I have to say don't do the paper justice because it doesn't pick up the way the wall sparkles as the paper is actully made from glass, also the room was still in a bit of disaray when i took the photos and not dressed

Before shots

Walls primed with Zinsser Gardz, then lined with Mav 1000 grade lining paper, Solvite ready mixed super high performance paste.

This is the paper J&V 901VIP - 1m wide on a 30m roll

Close up of the paper (can see a bit of detail in this shot)

Nice work CR.

Can someone explain to me the point of lining onto a perfectly plastered wall?

Oh i do hope you were dressed

But honestly guys that paper is amazing,i would never tire of something like that it is so fresh crisp and clean, and i could just see how the daylight and different light settings would change the mood (gorgeous) and very professionally done :salute:

I will bet it was expensive, can it be ordered,?
I just do my own diy im no pro. But i like a job done well, even woodchip looks better when done proper  Anyway i have a low to no budget at times, so please don't laugh , but i used the cheapest 4inch polystyrene coveing then bought a roll of paintable paper a kinda broken stripe pattern , and cut out strips the length of each cove wall to wall and only joined at the corners, then gave it a coat af brill white matt emulsion, then i finished it off with this clear laquer with tiny particles of glitter through it it was called Diamond ,and it catches the eye with all the different sparkles but not too much, just nice and suttle.
 again for the work. And thankyou for showing it .

P/S im working on my spelling

Glad you asked

There are a few reasons really, not all of these relate to this paper but wallpaper in general.

Lining paper can sort out any defects in the wall but personally I think any decent decorator should be able to sort out the walls without resorting to lining paper as a fix, there aren't many walls that I thought were beyond help and if they were then it needs replastering not lining. I'm not a big fan of lining walls to then paint them.... but I digress... There were some tiny defects in the wall which I filled before lining so that isn't the reason I used lining paper.

Lining paper is more absorbent than plaster so will draw moisture away from the top covering which reduces the risk of water staining delicate papers, but not too quick were it would form a poor bond.

The bond between a top paper and lining is extremely strong, as you can treat lining paper quite roughly to ensure you have a good bond to the wall you may not be able to do this with a paper that requires delicate handling. The end result is two strong bonds to the wall rather than one which may not be.

Some traditional English pulp papers expand when wet and can shrink when drying, lining does two things, it will regulate the shrinkage and is some cases when a paper dries that has been applied directly to painted walls it can pull the paint off the walls and pop the seams.

It makes seaming of the top paper easier as you are merging the papers together on a slightly soft surface, so you can really push the paper together and roll then with less risk of damaging the paper.

Paint stipple or the orange peel effect can show through some thinner papers and make seaming a pain, lining paper of course hides this.

 Did it read like that? Yes I was dressed, the room wasn't

The paper is very expensive it works out at around £40sqm so each drop is around £120, The paper for that one wall was just over £1,200! Beautiful paper but you have to really like it to spend that sort of money or have deep pockets

It's an Italian paper from Jannelli and Volpi

As always I like the work that goes into the end product. Love the effect of the paper, which you can see in the second pic. Plus it is good to see I am not the only person that works to a laser.

You get what you pay for..........I used to do Muraspec wall coverings for the office refurbs. I did a solicitors office in Murasuede which is.....funnily enough....a suede wall paper. My mum made a little foot rest out of what was left and a bundle of newspapers. That was 20 years ago and she has still got it lol.
