Thanks so much Kellys Eye for your message and your very speedy detective work.Never ever would I have guessed what it is! I apologise for putting it in the Cookery Forum but my first thought was some sort of whisk! Once again,Ultimate Handyman has solved my problems! Is it the thing from that game where you had to guide it round a metal wire and when it touched the wire the thing gave you a buzz?

Another clue - if you wet your finger and touch across the wires it buzzes and increments the counter
