All of the MS data acquisition can be turned off, also turn off connect to hotspots and contacts wifi - fail - default screen saver is random pictures from the pictures folder

one handy feature is virtual desktop (acts the same as multi monitor setup)

The only way I can turn it off is by pressing the power button on the desk top.

Bit shocked to read on here about antiviruses not compatible, I looked on my PC and couldn't find mine, didn't even think of checking it was ok :?
I downloaded the latest version from Kaspersky and it is ok and even recognised the licence which saves me trying to remember the password. :huray:

virtual desktop

Windows Key + Ctrl + D – Create a new virtual desktop and switch to it
Windows Key + Ctrl + F4 – Close the current virtual desktop.
Windows Key + Ctrl + Left / Right – Switch to the virtual desktop on the left or right.

shutdown from the desktop press and hold Alt + F4 and up pops a box, simples

Security wise. start button - settings - privacy

Tried alt/f4 and indeed it shut down but doesn't turn the power off.

Therefore it comes back to life about a minute later, as it does in sleep mode, the only way I've found to power down is to press the off button on the tower.

Hit start (windholes key)

Bottom left ish is a Power option, click on that and select shut down.

Yes Mike and a few minutes later the screens light up again, the shut down button doesn't turn the power off, red light still on.

That's one thing I'm concerned about. The fact that Microsoft can actually read private emails, or (even worse) personal stuff kept in private folders. In other words, they could access my bank account, CV, all the stuff on my computer. Who's to say Microsoft don't have any dodgy employees, willing to sell personal data on? Do you trust them completely?

Is this serious JJ?

Do you think people at MS have a secret button to open up people's files?

If you don't trust the OS you are running - don't use it! It's all getting a bit too 'the man is watching me' here.

It's likely power management for the computer Scruff (the way it's set in the BIOS, would be my best guess).

I had a similar issue a while ago with my laptop it was not set to S3 (is it S3 or S1? I forget....someone else might know!) and caused the same thing.

Failing that, my second guess would be old chipset drivers that have not played ball during the upgrade process. What computer/motherboard is it - Intel based?

If it is, they are a LITTLE bit behind the ball at the minute due to the release date brought forward - there will be lots of updates coming soon.

All of this stuff has been around for as long as time - why is it suddenly a problem? It's used for the "there is a fix for problem X" and the bugs that people whinge about.

Make sure you turn it off in everything else too............(anyone use virus submission when it detects malware - SHOCK!!!).
