Word docx file jumbled on iPhone/ipad

I am having trouble with a word docx file on both my iPhone and iPad running latest IOS.
It’s 5 pages long, needs to be printed off and filled in with pen, all appears ok until the last page where some boxes for filling in information are appearing jumbled up and overlapping each other meaning that not only does it look wrong but you also can’t fill in all of the information because some of the boxes are covered by other ones.
It is like this when viewing on my iPhone and iPad and also on the paper when printed out from my iPhone or iPad. Tried converting it to a pdf format to see if that would help but all the tools or apps to convert it seem to want a monthly subscription fee.
As a last resort I got my old desktop pc out of the cupboard which hasn’t been used for about two years and I wasn’t planning on using again, set it all up and was hoping this would open the document correctly but it won’t even open it as the document was created on a newer version of word than my computer runs. Even if it did open on my pc I would then have problems printing because when I tried to run the disc to install the drivers for my wireless printer it can’t load it because it says my pc operating system is too old (Vista).
Does anyone know of any options I have to get around this? Any iOS apps that can convert the docx to pdf etc that don’t require me to sign up to a monthly subscription fee?
Anything that I can do to my pc to make the document open with newer version of word that I don’t have? Apache OpenOffice or anything like that? and then how would I get the pc
to work with my printer?
I could go out and buy an up to date pc with windows 10 and Microsoft office etc but it is so rare that I need to use a pc that I would prefer to try and get around the problem some other way.
