Running LED lighting for stairs

I'd like to run LED lights in my staircase for each individual step. Each step is roughly a metre wide and i have 18 steps. I've never run LED lights before and don't know what there is available on the market regarding the install. I was hoping there is a main feed cable that i can run in a tight channel alongside the staircase that i can tap off at each individual step, but i'm guessing this is a way too easy solution. I don't want to end up with 18 transformers for each individual step. Has anyone a solution for this? The staircase is solid granite and my only cable route is up one side of the staircase. Thanks.

Why not try google, but look for decking lights, that is where most people have them. Why not mount recessed lights in the wall above each step?

Thanks. Recessed lights were my first thought but the staircase wall will be exposed brickwork, which negates any chasing or damage to the brick. The back of the brick wall would be almost impossible to access for the cable route.
