Outside wall light

Hi all im new here:)

So i had outside wall light working fine.

I wanted a PIR one so i bought exactly same one just with PIR.

Reconnected exactly same way and controls are fine but light doesnt come on. If i keep flicking the switch then light sometimes flicks but never stays on. I reconnected old one - works spot on. The new one - doesnt. Thought its a faulty uni, got a replacement - same thing.

Any advice?

Most PIR lights (I also have one which is donkeys years old) have an adjustment for light sensitivity and time on, have you both in optimum position ?
When 1st powered my lights come on even in daylight then after about 3 minutes go into their night PIR mode.
You need to connect the supply by the colours connector instruction in the new unit, just might be the circuit is + and -ve sensitive whereas the straight light would not be' however I am sure a leky will put me you right on this soon enough

Also look at the instructions for the pir, many of them have at least 3x runnung configurations (light always on, light sensitivity activation & motion activated) to cycle through which option you want to set it at, you turn the controlling light switch on and off a set number of times in a set time period)
As well as these settings there are often a light sensitivity setting which may need to be configured but testing in daylight could be an issue.
