Hi,
I think I'm in the market for replacing my soldering iron... It's a small hobby iron. I'm thinking along the lines of the Weller gun (i.e. the sort with the trigger), however, I'm wondering whether they are still the best?
It's to be used for small general soldering jobs - wiring terminals and similar.
Cheers

Just make sure you get an high wattage one. I used to have one and it was totally useless, but I used one a few weeks back at college and it was superb.
The one I had was useless at melting the solder.

Who needs soldering irons!!!
Chez's pic reminded me of the mini-computer boards I had to repair at Prime Computers in the 80's.
All the chips were socketed and all the connections were made with wire-wrap ....
This is just a small Z80 micro board - our boards were 19" x 15" rack boards and the computer had about 15 of them - interesting to patch them up
